Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
How long has it taken for people to hear back on a decision after the interview?

I shouldn't have waited this long, but these short response questions trip me up
I know they're pretty much meaningless, but I just cant bring myself to hit submit

I'm a little perplexed about talk of an interview. I went to the UVA Law site and didn't find anything about it.

Does anybody know if I start an application as RD for UVA can I change to ED before I submit or is it a completely different application? I want to start the application, but my LSAT score will determine whether I apply ED or RD.

It looks like this is a more refined version of their old YP policy. Instead of putting people straight on the WL for YP and hoping they send in a LOCI they just make a phone call to see if those with higher numbers actually want to attend. Trying to get that 170 median back.Otunga wrote:Otunga wrote:I'm a little perplexed about talk of an interview. I went to the UVA Law site and didn't find anything about it.

Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
That's basically my impression as well. I was fully expecting a WL based on results from MyLSN, but it seems like they're changing their strategy this cycle. The first question I was asked in my interview was Why UVA, so I think it's fair to say that a big reason for the interview is to gauge your interest in the school. I have to say, I'm pretty happy about the new policy!Travis12 wrote:It looks like this is a more refined version of their old YP policy. Has the "1st Seat Deposit (J.D.), 2nd Seat Deposit (J.D.), LLM Deposit" portion of the "Fees" section always been there?

From a current 1L- congrats to all those who got in so far and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!
Just wanted to drop in and recommend that anyone who is even thinking about attending UVA should find an open weekend and make the trip to Charlottesville. I happen to love it here and you may or may not, but I think it's definitely a place where it won't take you too long to figure it out either way.
Also, I'd be more than happy to answer any 0L questions, whether in this thread or by PM.

How many people are at UVA from NYC? Is it essential to have a car on campus? How is the public transportation? TYIA.WahooLaw24 wrote:From a current 1L- congrats to all those who got in so far and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Anybody you know from Massachusetts/Rhode Island that wants to head back to that area? Or perhaps anybody that's just interested in working in Boston and the prospects for such people?WahooLaw24 wrote:From a current 1L- congrats to all those who got in so far and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Having a car isn't really necessary, assuming you live on Arlington. I personally have a 2 minute walk to the school and a 2 minute walk in the other direction to a 24 hour grocery store. There's also a CVS and a Bank of America in that same (albeit huge) shopping center, and plenty of other shopping/eating options. Because I do have my car here, I can't comment too much on public transportation. Cabs are generally not too hard to get though and are pretty cheap.mindarmed wrote:How many people are at UVA from NYC? Is it essential to have a car on campus? How is the public transportation? I haven't met many people from NYC actually. Lots of Virginia residents obviously (I think they still have to take 40% in-state residents) and, maybe just by coincidence, lots of people from Florida and California.

Haven't met anyone from the area. Here is the breakdown of where the classes of 2009-2011 went:Otunga wrote:Anybody you know from Massachusetts/Rhode Island that wants to head back to that area? Looks like roughly 3% of all graduates went to work in Boston in those 3 years.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
