I've been under review since 11/1 and just got my first date change today. So exciting. I'm actually surprised I haven't been dinged from any T14 yet. I applied to most of them even though my numbers are below all of their 25th's hoping that I'll be someone's "special snowflake."

Can I do Ann Bryce if my sister who is 3 years older went to grad school? Do they mean literal first or first generation? No one else in my family has ever gone onto higher education.

You could submit those after being admitted too! Also there's always non-program-bound institutional aid…

Wait is this true? So I can just select the scholarships I'm interested in and then email the essays later? I understand these essays are separate from admissions, but I was anxious because I probably can't attend this awesome school without the right $!

Wait don't go ahead on this info without corroborating it, but yeah I'm pretty sure. I think once you're in they can be like "hey why don't you apply for the _______ scholarship?"

Either way, writing an email to them asking about this will take less time than writing an essay, so no harm checking. :)

Does almost everybody write at least 1 scholarship essay? There was only 1 scholarship that fit my career goals well so I only wrote an essay for that one. Can we make a poll for this?

Named / special program scholarships aren't the only forms of aid though! Also it's better to skip the essays than force an essay trying to invent ways in which those special programs are a fit for you (at least, that was my reason).

That's fair. My personal statement could have probably been used for one of the scholarships so I felt like I needed to write the essay for that one (I submitted a separate essay obvs).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
