-28 reported acceptances off the waitlist last year
-80 reported waitlisters this year

If we assume last year there was a similar sized waitlist (is there a way we can know?) we can expect somewhere around 28/80 to get in this year?

~35% shot of getting in off waitlist.

Does that seem reasonable?
Waitlist is probably not full yet. You should instead compare the 28 number to the total WLs from last year.

Same here. Maybe they're trying to interview more folks in advance of the deposit deadline this year? I probably shouldn't be asking questions, though.

I suppose I just don't feel like I'm worthy, so I'm trying to think of alternative explanations.

Speculation (since that's all we have at this point) as to what this large number of post-WL JS1s means?

I'd wait because you might want it to get off the WL in May.

Haha, what you've written up there is far less identifiable - I'm sure plenty of people think that :P

I was thinking about your point, but then, if I won the award wouldn't that give me something now (nomination) and something later (win)?

Adding that I was JS1ed in the first wave.

Grats to new JS1s. Fits with the theory that they are interviewing a big portion of the WL.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
