Loooong time lurker. Preferred WL here as well. Just wanna say that you guys are awesome, regardless of dings/WLs. That was the longest 8 hours. From someone who is abroad and it was technically my nighttime but not really since I kept dreaming of the email and waking up every hour, this thread really helped a sista out.

It was just so classy of Georgetown to wait until literally the last minutes of their self-imposed deadline to let us know their decision on our applications. I will think highly of Georgetown for the rest of my life. Defo having my future kids apply here.

I posted in the main thread, but I'll add here...PT only applicant, held in Nov, 2 status updates (21/24) this month, and acceptance letter on the 26.

I wish there was more success coming from the held folks, but I'm sure many of you will be getting off the waitlist very soon.

Some applicants who applied earlier in the cycle were "held" for further review. This meant that the school is/was interested in them but wanted to see what the rest of the applicant pool looked like first, before making a final decision. Applicants who were "held" were told that they would have a final decision by yesterday, February 28th. As it turns out, almost every held applicant (on TLS) ended up getting waitlisted or dinged.

As for the waitlists, there seem to be three different ones: 1. special group within the "preferred waiting list" 2. the "preferred waiting list" 3. the regular waitlist. Intuitively, you would want to be on #1, but there have been cases in the past of people getting accepted off of each list. (I think it will all ultimately depend on how many original acceptances end up withdrawing, i.e. how many spots they have left to fill from the various waitlists.) Hope this helps.

Also, it seems like the people in the special group within PWL are there because of yield protection...people with ridiculously good numbers that G'town wants to make sure are serious about coming, they are pretty much a good LOCI away from quick admission.

I do wonder if the people that were held and then waitlisted are in a better spot than the people that were just waitlisted outright.

No. I had my interview on Dec 22. I was not held. I was invited to a group interview in Chicago
