Re: American University Class of 2016
Here's a tip:
American loves applicants who show interest in the school. If you show zero interest in the school and your stats are at the median range, AU will reject you outright or hold your application for a very long time. Conversely, if your scores are below median, you have a decent chance of getting in if you show strong interest in the school.

With an entering class of 500 (part-time and full-time) I find it hard to believe that they hand select all those with a "vested" interest.

*edit*
Not trying to dismiss the school, especially in a "Class Of Thread", but I do believe their is a bigger under working behind their admissions process than focusing that much time on their applicants.

Well showing some interest could help out some borderline candidates. Of course, not all applicants are borderline candidates. Those with sincere interest to attend AU might find it helpful to write a LOCI or go visit the school.

And mine was sent on a Monday. It doesn't seem like there's any regular pattern with American, though mine was sent soon after my second update.JayJones78 wrote:FWIW, my decision was sent on a FridayCJ007 wrote:2nd update today. I'm thinking another round of decisions tomorrow - good luck to all!

I just got an acceptance letter and there's nothing about financial aid. Does this mean I didn't get anything?

Should be an interesting couple of weeks. I feel as if AU has started dishing a range of decisions and will continue to do so.

If you want to attend AU, send the Admissions Office an email expressing interest in the school. AU probably thinks that you won't attend if admitted. Prove them wrong and show interest if that is what you really want.AMilfordMan wrote:Complete 9/20. Update 12/7. Above both medians.

Re: American University Class of 2016
I'm confused:
I applied for the JD at AU and, in my PS, wrote that I wanted to do a dual JD/MA. I filled in the MA application about halfway through but then decided not to apply after all so didn't send it off. I haven't heard back yet re my JD application but just got accepted to the MA program. I thought the two application processes were entirely separate? Has anyone else been accepted to sth they didn't actually apply for??
I'm wondering if I should e-mail them about this (though I can't figure out a polite way of asking what on earth is going on there) or just ignore it since I got other offers and won't be going to AU anyway. Any tips / opinions?

If you indicate on the JD application that you want to do a dual degree they automatically consider you for both. Most schools do separate applications for each degree but American allows you to apply for them with just one app.

I'm assuming you have a GRE score in addition to your LSAT on file with American though?julie2012 wrote:I'm confused:
