Question about that... The email specifically states: " no additional documentations, letters of continued interest, or letters of recommendation are necessary." Should we go ahead and write LOCIs anyway?

Wow. Good catch. I say the words "waitlist" and stopped reading. RC fail on my end.
Hmmm. It says "are not necessary" but not "DONT SEND." I have no idea what to do now.

Send send send send. I think UW is already nervous, especially WLing a bunch of OOS with concern as to whether most candidates would actually attend. Write a solid LOCI. You definitely should do this is if you're serious about attending, especially as people begin to withdraw.

I'm still UR from 1/4, then 1/7. No response still... would it be beneficial to write a LOCI? My numbers give me a pretty good chance, but I'm worried considering the people they've dinged/WL'd so far! It seems crazy unpredictable. 0.0

I'd prob wait until you hear back one way or the other. There's always a chance your decision comes as you send the LOCI and they get crossed, potentially putting you in, at best, an awkward situation.
I also have similar numbers to you and really have no idea what UW is going to do...

WL, 162, 3.3, addendum for both GPA and LSAT, not too surprised to be honest... but still a sad start of the weekend.

2011: Rejected
2012: Waitlisted
2013: Accepted via email!
Finally.
I am a reverse splitter with numbers that have obviously given me trouble: 159/3.79.
Crazy, right? Good luck to all of you who were wait listed - I know your pain!

rabbitrabbit wrote:I definitely agree it's very competitive! But the committee that makes decisions on the scholarship doesn't have access to LSAT and GRE numbers, at least in the first round - I think. It's very much promoted primarily as a program for those with dedicated public interest aspirations/experience. Was just hoping maybe some others were waiting on hearing about the scholarship to commiserate with through this process!
Sorry for being so late to the party. I applied for the Gates as well so we can definitely commiserate together. From what I hear it's a pretty rigorous selection process, with tough reviewers. Clearly though, it's well worth it if your selected. Anyway, I'll stop stating the obvious and simply wish you the best of luck. I'm not expecting to hear anything from them until at least mid-March.

i'm also on the fence about the LOCI. i emailed Mathiew regarding "advice for us waitlisters" and he basically said "it's nice to hear from you and about your continued interest, however there's really nothing we can do at all until May. hang in there". so, i'm not too sure. don't want to piss anyone off.

Also waitlisted, with 166/3.5.
Confirmation that west coast schools are very GPA focused I guess.
