Wasn't the entire east coast shut down for a week or so?edwardt1988 wrote:Lol I got that part, but I highly doubt it would have an effect. It wasn't that bad for Boston...

Boston wasnt really affected too much. A couple hundred lost power in the state but I live basically a few miles from BU and never lost power and even went for a walk during the storm. BU may have shut down for a day or two but I don't think it would have had a huge impact on admissions.teiswei wrote:Wasn't the entire east coast shut down for a week or so?edwardt1988 wrote:Lol I got that part, but I highly doubt it would have an effect. Well that's not totally true. The suburbs with trees lost a ton of power, and almost 400k lost power, though I will admit not in Boston proper.AlanShore wrote:Boston wasnt really affected too much. I work in lower Manhattan, and we didn't get to delay any deadlines as a result of Sandy. I'd be a little bitter if BU used that as an excuse.teiswei wrote:Wasn't the entire east coast shut down for a week or so?edwardt1988 wrote:Lol I got that part, but I highly doubt it would have an effect. Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
Update for me as well! This is my first, and I went complete 10/25. I am trying to be optimistic (which is now bordering on delusion) but I hope this means good news

Interesting, the three of us that posted so far all have similar numbers..as in somewhat weak for BU. Hoping for the best!

Also got an 12/17 update today. I'm an ED-er and it's my first since mid November.

So BU decided to let us ED candidates(or at least some of us) wait until as close to the 20th as possible. Awesome

Well it's after 5PM EST now. Another day, another lack of decisions.
At least we know we have to see some movement before Friday.

Any theories as to why they're taking longer than previous years?

Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
I'm guessing it's more of a challenging cycle for them to figure out, so they're waiting for more apps. But that doesn't explain why they haven't accepted anyone. I'm sure there's plenty of applicants that they would have taken last yr, so I'm surprised they haven't moved on those people yet.

Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
I would assume this is right. As for the lack of any acceptances, the only thing I can figure is they want to settle their ED acceptances (and thus tied up scholarship commitments) before accepting people RD who they will probably want to give some money.edwardt1988 wrote:I'm guessing it's more of a challenging cycle for them to figure out, so they're waiting for more apps. Then again, the sadist theory sounds solid too.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
