Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Okay everyone i know conjecture is king on this site so ill allow it, but as we all have no clue if its good or not to get an interview especially since people get accepted without it and to be honest who wants 20 extra minutes of stress? i think that the interview right now is merely a sign of progression. instead of seeing the same crap when we check the status checker this gives the illusion that things are "moving along," when in reality it may just mean we probably wont accept him/her, but lets give the sucker one last shot.
so please dont get worked up if you dont have one.

Yours, bernaldiaz's and Yukos' combined responses make most sense after seeing a whole day's worth of interview data. Either Ruby candidates or borderline candidates it seems. Best way to test this hypothesis is when people starting posting interview Qs associated with their #s.Anonymous4444 wrote:Okay everyone i know conjecture is king on this site so ill allow it, but as we all have no clue if its good or not to get an interview especially since people get accepted without it and to be honest who wants 20 extra minutes of stress? i think that the interview right now is merely a sign of progression. instead of seeing the same crap when we check the status checker this gives the illusion that things are "moving along," when in reality it may just mean we probably wont accept him/her, but lets give the sucker one last shot.

Best of luck to everyone!
Just out of curiosity, is anyone electing to NOT interview after the invitation? (Ballsy I know, highly unlikely amongst TLSers, but curious nevertheless.)

So if they are interviewing candidates who are considered "borderline" (at least some it seems) should I be worried if I applied ED but haven't received an invite to interview yet?

Let's wait until next week when the interviews start and then perhaps we can start answering more questions. I (and I am sure others as well) will let you know how our interviews go once they're complete.
Why is that?

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I agree. But in the latter case as I said earlier its probably used as a way to protect yield - check and see if the applicant is really interested in attending before offering a boatload of cashbernaldiaz wrote:They may also be interviewing different people for different reasons. Some applicants may be interviewed because they are borderline acceptances, others may be interviewed for scholarship purposes. For example, I highly doubt, now that they have this mechanism in place, that they will give a Ruby to anyone who doesn't interview.ChampagnePapi wrote:The more people who fill it out, the more it looks like its for borderline applicants. I highlighted in green everyone who is at or above both medians. Everyone else is a URM, splitter, or reverse splitter.

Yes, you have to go UR before they consider inviting you for an interview.Crowing wrote:I finally went UR today. Did you guys who got interview requests go UR before the request?

What are you guys thinking w/ regards to dress for the interview? Shirt and tie, or just a button-down?
