Indeed. I have heard Dean Tom say it is one of the "best parts of [his] job."

I can only imagine how that conversation would go:

DT: "Hello. This is Dean Tom calling from Boalt Hall. How are you"?

Me: "Well I am just freakin' amazing, thanks"!

Maybe, but Avocado Pit has been around in other threads and seems legit. Also, LSN only has 270 Boalt applicants reporting. I'm sure many more than that have submitted already. And last year Berkeley started rolling them out a little earlier than this. This is entirely plausible (I'm going with real).

First acceptance last year was on 11/21. I don't see any reason to doubt that people are already getting in.

But for the past 3 years Boalt has always tweeted that they are beginning to make calls on the first day of acceptances. They did tweet yesterday, but not about making calls. More to the tune that things in the admissions office were winding down for thanksgiving break. I don't believe they've made an acceptances yet.

It was actually earlier. Dean Tom gave a presentation in mid Oct. last year and indicated he had already begun reviewing and had made two admit calls (when stressing the importance of submitting early).

Swear to God I'm not trolling. Lol.

Edit: In response to lapache, I think there are Dean Tom admits and committee admits. Apparently, Dean Tom starts reviewing and either makes an admit or forwards to committee. It could be this is a Dean admit and the committee hasn't started rolling out yet?

That is true, I did attend a presentation mid October last year where Dean Tom mentioned that he already had a stack of applications that had been admitted and he was just waiting to call them. I really really hope that they have started this week. However, their tweet does suggest that we won't be hearing anything else until after Thanksgiving

In via phone call from the dean!!!! Did not expect this!!! Said information packet would arrive in about 2-3 weeks.

Numbers: 169 (third try), 4.14 GPA, Non URM, two years work experience.

Missed a call today from 510.643.6753 and had no voicemail. Anyone else in this boat? Looked up the number and it looks like Berkeley admissions. Should I call back?
