It is certainly worth it to try, but you will probably not have success. They seem to believe they are worth $37.5 K more than NYU this year, a kind of random number that has been popping up a lot around here.

I sent in my offer of 50k from NYU last week and they only gave me 25k. However, bronck had the same NYU offer and got 62.5k

Just send them an email with information about your scholarships. I sent them one in letter format with copies of my award letters.

They gave me 60k in response to my NYU offer of 75k.

I hate that Columbia makes you fill out all of the financial aid information even if you just want merit-based aid. Such a hassle.

Has anyone had success negotiating either this cycle or last year's cycle after initial award letters were sent? And if so, how long it took to get a response. This NYU deadline is killing me.

Yeah, I got my initial award a couple of weeks ago after negotiating with a Chicago scholarship, but since then I've gotten NYU aid, and I wonder if I can get them to take that into consideration and re-review. But I'm afraid I'm being rude... How does one phrase this kind of thing without sounding like you're saying "thanks for the $, now give me more."

I sent my UChicago award before the initial award and sent my NYU award as soon as I received it.

Just an update on my negotiation, they did not want to increase the grant amount even after I sent my NYU award. =/

I'll still end up in Columbia since it's pretty much where I wanted to go all along.

When did you submit? I submitted on Wednesday with info from NYU & UChi and they got back to me today.

I paid mine too and there was no confirmation. I figured it was time since I'm only waiting on H and S....and the likelihood of those has gone way down (was held so may not even hear until after May 1)

Sorry if this has been asked and answered but I already sent my Need access and FAFSA. I know I need to send the columbia specific Fin Aid form back in but do I have to send my taxes before they consider me for an award or just upon enrolling? Anyone get an award without sending in taxes?

I believe they want it before. On the top of the FAQ, it says that the deadline for that form and the tax forms is March 1.
