I haven't gotten my package, just the call last week. I was told that they were having a couple of ASW's. I know one is on March 24th. When is the other?

3.92/3.96 JR/SR year barely brought my GPA up to over a 3.5 and I was taking 20-23 units a quarter. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
I had my share of bad. My first years of college in another country was terrible due to series of unfortunate events. Very low grades, some F and drops, but when I came to US, I started over again, new undergrad - straight As and 1 B. The two years coursework outside the US was not calculated in my LSDAS GPA.dproduct wrote:I want to go back in time, slap myself, remove the beer from my hand and hand myself a course schedule.princeR wrote:Posts like these make me wish I took my freshman year more seriously... damn, could of had a 3.8 easily lol.sailormoon wrote:Got in through the LEOP Program. Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
It honestly is a little unfair... Shit, it was our first year of college, give us a break, we were 18 and were away from our parents for the first time, of course we lived a little and our grades suffered because of it. Ya, I'm in the exact same boat, my GPA per semester went like this:dproduct wrote:I want to go back in time, slap myself, remove the beer from my hand and hand myself a course schedule.princeR wrote:Posts like these make me wish I took my freshman year more seriously... damn, could of had a 3.8 easily lol.sailormoon wrote:Got in through the LEOP Program. 3.07/3.36/3.5/3.46/Now I start trying and realize how important my grades are in my junior year once I got all the ridiculous partying out of my system. 3.79/4.0/3.7/3.8

Nope. I hadn't heard anything until I received the small envelope in the mail this afternoon. It contained a single page letter signed by Dean Canada.ensign85 wrote:Did they call you prior to mailing the letter?onedavetoomany wrote:Received the acceptance letter in the mail today!!!!!

Dean Canada called me this afternoon! He mentioned specific quotes from my personal statement and seemed to be familiar with my entire application. It was definitely a big positive for Hastings!

Anybody heard anything about scholarship info? If so was it via snail mail or what? I was admitted 1/19.

Waitlist here. Anyone on the waitlist taking any action at this point? Or is the general consensus to wait to hear back from Hastings? I know the email said that they "appreciate if we don't call or email regarding the waitlist."

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
Although I'm not familiar with anything Hastings specific, I would not wait to hear from them. If you are still interesting in attending. I would write a LOCI and send it via snail mail. But only if you have good substantial things to say about the school itself. Particular programs you are interested in, reasons you feel you will excel there, so on and so forth. Basically don't just say "I would still like to go there if accepted".LockBox wrote:Waitlist here. Anyone on the waitlist taking any action at this point? They don't award any aid (merit or need-based) until you submit your FAFSA and their supplement --LinkRemoved--. The deadline is March 1st.hadisious wrote:Anybody heard anything about scholarship info? If so was it via snail mail or what? I was admitted 1/19.

Does anyone know if you can submit their financial aid supplement online instead of having to mail it in?

I wondered the same thing, but will probably just mail it tomorrow.hadisious wrote:+1Beachbum89 wrote:Does anyone know if you can submit their financial aid supplement online instead of having to mail it in?
Does anyone know if you should include spouse's income under "Next Academic Year Estimate of Assistance"? I filed a joint tax return with my wife, so I felt like it shouldn't be included.

I dont know that this is necessarily true. I think you qualify for merit based aid regardless of whether or not you submit FAFSA. I sent an email and they said merit based aid will be given out at the end of this month.

Oooh, well thats exciting. Thanks for the update. I just kinda assumed because they always had the reputation of being pretty stingy with merit aid.lakers3peat wrote:odetojefferson wrote:They don't award any aid (merit or need-based) until you submit your FAFSA and their supplement --LinkRemoved--. Just looked it up and saw this on their website:
--LinkRemoved--UC Hastings awards more than $600,000 in scholarships to entering students. Other than the Patiño Fellowship listed below, there is no need to make a separate application for any entering student scholarship. Some admitted students will receive scholarship offers along with their letter of admission; additional scholarship awards will be made by letter in the middle of April.
A couple of them say "academic achievement and financial need" so I don't think the FAFSA will be a bad idea for schollys.
LSN looks like no one has gotten any scholarships yet though. Dunno if thats a good sign or bad sign.

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
So is everyone submitting it in addition to their FAFSA or no? I probably won't be attending Hastings but should I get a decent scholarship I want the option there. So would I still put "I will attend Hastings College both semesters"?

Definitely. I think the semester option is for transfers or something.hadisious wrote:So is everyone submitting it in addition to their FAFSA or no? I don't think they will look at your FAFSA without the supplement.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
