Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
I just got waitlisted today after being "in review" since the 18th. =(
Does anyone know what they mean by "We will not rank the applicants on the waitlist." Does it mean that they pick people off of the waitlist randomly, or that they just won't reveal what order they will pull in?
Also any PT's that have been accepted want to share their GPA/LSAT so I have a better idea of how far off I am? I was above the median for both on last years statistics.. Soo bummed.

Yeah, that's along the time line I was thinking. I really don't wanna take the LSAT again, but will probably start in June if not admitted...sammyk wrote:Im thinking one during the first week of may since thats when the first seat deposit is due and also because they are aiming to finish reviewing all apps by may 1st.

My seat deposit due date isn't until 06/01. Just FYI since it seems everyone on here is under the impression that it's just the 05/01 date. There are multiple dates:)

In via email!
Edit:
So anyone have any info regarding employment?
It will take a LOT of money to sway me away from my current plans due to a complete lack of transparency and a super late decision. Most likely withdrawing.
Good luck to others waiting! Hope my seat goes to someone else here when I withdraw!

Hey guys!
I'm selling my books on Amazon and have a ton of supplements that won't sell for much so it's not worth it.
I have:
E&E's for Civ Pro, Contracts, and Torts
A legal research book (you'd have to wait until you get your schedule to see if you're with a prof that uses it)
A copy of the federal rules (you'll definitely need this, though you may want the 2012 version)
The Burton Contracts supplement
If you're interested, send me a PM and we can figure out prices. I can bring them to you whenever you get to town.

They actually don't seem to be asking me for a deposit at all. Yet.
But they are asking for me to fill out a TON of information, all of it I gave to them with my application. I think they need to hire someone in admissions to do some data entry.

You could probably fill a thimble (with room left over) with what I know about Indy's waitlist....From what I've read on last year's admission thread, the movement starts to get underway in June. As a fellow waitlister I hope we both get lucky....I have been meaning to call admissions but haven't had the time with work. Have you spoken to them about being w/l'd?

Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
Hey guys,
A little information that I got from someone at the admissions office who I spoke with over the phone:
They do not plan to admit people from the wait-list until after the second week of June. This is, I suppose, when they will determine which students will and will not enroll in the Fall. I'm guessing it'll take time to reevaluate waitlisted applicants as well. This process could last until mid-August as more students may potentially drop.
So, I suppose a big rush on submitting LOCIs may not be too necessary. Their admissions is a mess.

I am inclined to agree. Assuming that I get picked off of the waitlist, I hope that things don't come down to the wire in mid August. I work a full-time job and would like to extend them a professional 2 week courtesy. It doesn't seem appropriate that they take forever then out of nowhere then*BAM* "change everything, you start law school Monday..." There is also the added frustration of not knowing whether or not to start studying for the LSAT (Admissions will tell you that this is a person decision, but they don't exactly help by keeping you dangling from January through mid august), and how to plan your finances if you are abruptly admitted.
Do they care about the position they put their applicatns in???

Now that I've cooled off a bit...I've decided that I'm going Andy Dufresne (a la Shawshank Redemption). They get a LOCI per week until then June...Then they get two letters a week.
I've heard in years past they sent a notifcation if you were NOT going to have a chance to come off the waitlist, does anyone know if they still do this?

I wouldn't send them that many documents all at once. it could definitely work against you. Remember, they already have a lot of paper work from you. You want to send them things that would matter towards impressing them. For example, a promotion, new grades, new lsat score, honorable mentions, community service work, etc.
Nothing too repetitive. Im sending one tomorrow for the first seat deadline and I have a letter of recommendation in the works from my new boss at my new job. If this doesn't work by mid June, I shall be sending in another LOR from an advisor from undergrad and thats all.
I also heard of this happening. However, I don't know if IU-indy does this. I guess we just have to wait it out and see for ourselves?

Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
That sounds like a lot of work. I might send in one more thing, but I'll probably slowly get back to studying for the LSAT and move on from this unrequited love affair. I'm beginning to wonder if the admissions commitee picks daisy petals going "Admit.....Not Admit.....Admit....Not Admit....Oh look a LOCI....How long have they been waiting, 5 months? HAHAHHAHAHAHHA!!! Let's toast our glasses to evil then get back to our business....Admit....Not Admit..."sammyk wrote:jvaugh57 wrote:Now that I've cooled off a bit...I've decided that I'm going Andy Dufresne (a la Shawshank Redemption). it sure sounds like that doesn't it?? haha. well, were just going to have to ride it out. I feel as though there is a chance of getting off of the wait list at this school. Just have to be patient and try to keep in contact in minimal but efficient amounts. if that even makes sense. basically send them things that are going to count and not generic hallmark interest letters. They want something out of the box, we were wait listed for a reason. We all have basically the same numbers. Just have to stand out!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
