WL today via e-mail.

3.8/167

Mostly annoyed for, as someone else said, ruining my cycle's momentum. I'll probably withdraw soon.

I would say no more than ten green dots on this graph would even consider attending GW WITH money.

Yes, I was accepted... but since I have been accepted to much higher schools, I would need near a full ride to conisder GW

After looking at LSN for this year's cycle, it looks like only one sub-168 non-URM applicant has been accepted so far. Do people think this is indicative of GWU trying to raise their numbers or just a byproduct of how early it is in the cycle?

I thought I'd be a lock with my numbers based on past cycles, but I wonder if this year is, for some reason, different?

Could be a few things. I think they're trying to cut the size of the class, though they technically could see an uptick in applications, especially among highly qualified candidates (I don't think this is the case though). They could also have a lot more money at disposal to try to lure applicants.

My first WL, with above median GPA and above 75th LSAT - (3.65, 169). I'm really surprised but I guess reading through this thread I shouldn't be.

I don't think 3.65 is above median GPA. But still, yeah, that WL is shocking.

Withdraw from the whole cycle? Or GW?

I don't understand this WL at all. Due to a drop in applicants this cycle, this hardly seems to be the best time for GW to attempt to raise their medians.

Unless they are planning on cutting their class size in half... and giving just about everyone ALOT of money

Oh, I looked at the LSN profile but I just realized it said Class of 2009, so that's a long time ago. Still, I'm confused. Oh well, I got into a better school I like more with money, so it's okay!

Okay I am convinced, they are going to take A LOT of people off of that waitlist.

if you look at the LSN graphs GW does tend to accept a lot more waitlisters than most schools, towards the end of the cycle they take in a bunch of them. But still 168's and 9's getting WL'd with good GPA's is nuts. I could be wrong but I don't believe there is any precedent for a school cutting their class in HALF in one cycle, and with the lower pool of applicants this year that everyone claims to be the case I just can't see an explanation.

Even if they are planning on accepting a lot of people off of the waitlist, why would people with 168's and 169's wait until April, or dare I say August, to get an answer from GW? I can't imagine doing that. Moving to a new city, and making living arrangements takes a long time. Factor in the fact that it's DC, and multiply all of that by 10. If I'm moving to DC, I want to start making plans in February at the latest.

I thought about throwing an app at GW, but after reading this, I have decided against it. I have no idea what is up with this cycle. Some of you guys have great #s and were WL, while one of my friends was below 25% on GPA and at 75% LSAT and was straight out admitted. So weird. Best of luck to everyone waiting, and I hope many of you get off the WL.

Not surprising. LSAT points are more valuable than GPA points.

I got in somehow, even though I have similar #s to some of you that got WL'd. I get this strange arrogant/cocky feeling from GW this year, and I don't like it one little bit.

However, I do think having class sizes around 300 (permanently) could only help the school. The physical space of the building is pretty max'ed out - borderline claustrophobic.

Anyway, I can't imagine how you 3.6+/167+ wont get off the WL, but it makes me mad (for you) that they'd make you sit around like that.

well, two weeks after I sent my complete application to GW, my report was finally transmitted to them. Given that this happened instantly with all the other schools that I applied to, I am already worried lol.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
