un-vordox - I am in the same boat. I really hope my decision comes in this wave. Unfortunately, things are not looking good - nothing in the mail yet and I live only a few miles from the school.

Dammit. Panic mode is setting in. I should've studied for the Sept LSAT so I didn't have to cancel my first and only attempt at a retake.

EDIT: I mean October, I think. I dunno, the one in the fall. Whatever.

Of course I don't mind! I thought it was on 10/26 but I just looked back and the email doesn't say completed so I'm going to estimate the beginning of Nov. It is hard to remember exactly because their status checker changed so many times.

Cool, thanks a lot. I was a December LSAT taker, so I didn't go complete until early Jan. The wait is killing me. Lewis and Clark is my top choice. I envy your position! Congrats again.

Assuming I get denied from my many reaches, this may be my top choice... As long as I can justify taking out around 140k in loans ... gulp

Have you retaken the LSAT? 140k in debt seems too steep for L&C with the job prospects. You'll be living a life where you're paying off your debt for a long, long time and a salary of most likely $50-70k. However, if law school is something you're truly set on, then go for it, but personally, I'd be hesitant to take out that large a loan for L&C (and pretty much any other school outside of the top 8 or so).

It is definitely an option. I've taken it once, got a 160. I peaked at 168 on PT's, but a trip to Alaska and some friends visiting sorta hindered my focus in the weeks leading up to the test. I am thinking about taking it again in June and seeing how next year goes.

$$$ combined with not knowing a single person in Oregon are two big factors keeping me from committing myself to L&C, ... blah and I thought waiting for decisions was the hard part!

I was at 12/16 and updated today. I saw one person who updated twice before getting a decision via snail mail--so I'm hoping to have a decision soon.

In via mail! $15k scholly renewable with 2.95. Letter was dated 1/23 and I got it 1/26 (OR to AK). Application submitted 12/15, update 1/6, last update 1/19 (There might have been one more update in there but I don't remember). I'm so excited!

We just got the announcement that we're going to have a pretty exciting visitor come to our campus next academic year.

For those of you coming to L&C, Chief Justice John Roberts will be part of your 1L experience.

What does that mean? To what extent is he going to be part of the '1L experience'

Hi! I haven't been on the blog to clarify, so thanks for your patience. You might already know that L&C is the only school with a lecture series established by a sitting Justice (Kennedy), so we're on their radar. Our Dean is well-connected and a decent guy to boot, so in recent years we've had Justice Kennedy come twice, Justice Scalia, and we received notice that Chief Justice Roberts will be coming to campus this academic year, with the caveat they are still confirming which date. Not everything that happens on campus is on the website.

From past experience with distinguished visitors, they have generally taught a class or two, had a special Q&A with students at lunch, and give a lecture in the evening for the legal community on campus. It seems Justices enjoy students very much and have been very open and accessible; Justice Kennedy was especially engaged and went beyond.

I might have been more reserved to say that you'd have an opportunity instead of an experience. You'll have to decide for yourself.

I talked with an admissions rep, and was told that there are scholarships that are only available at 2L, 3L, etc. They are based on your performance in the school, so even if you dont get a scholarship based on LSAT/GPA, you can get a scholarship for your second and/or third year. Pretty sweet. I am really hoping to hear soon...LC is too perfect for me.

Also, conventional wisdom has it that you can use transfer admissions as leverage in scholly negotiation after your 1L year. So if you're top, say, 5-10%, you can send out transfer apps and use the possibility of moving up in the rankings as leverage against them.

No idea if that applies specifically at L&C.

The way I see it, if you get that 168, or even something like 164+, you may be able to get $26-30k per year from L&C by taking a year off. Saving yourself a ton of money in the process. Just a thought, good luck wherever you wind up

I got an acceptance packet in the mail today. My checker still says "application complete" for 1/19. I applied a couple days before christmas. They also offered me no money, but attached a letter saying I am eligible for merit aid but they already have offered all scholarships, and I have to resubmit a letter of interest in april to be considered for scholarships. Kind of lame considering $$ will be the primary factor, and they want a seat deposit before they consider me for scholarships. Not to mention every other school will probably want a deposit around the same time as well...

I sent in an app yesterday out of boredom after they sent me and email saying they pushed their deadlines back and I had a fee waiver. Hadn't really looked into it until now, but for 16 bucks its worth sending out I guess.

Normally I think this kind of thing wouldn't phase me, but after the Vassar incident with mistaken acceptances I don't want to take my chances. Maybe I'm also so sharp on it because I've been hounding my status checker every fifteen minutes for a decision.
