(1) Some of the current students that are responding on the facebook page and on this thread are "law ambassadors." Law ambassadors are students that give tours to the law school during visits and admitted students weekends, while also monitoring the facebook page and TLS just in case somebody has a question that might be best answered with a current student's prospective. They serve as a personal/student connection outside of the office of admission for prospective/admitted students. (Basically the same thing you all probably had at your undergrads). No, we do not get paid. No, there is no other incentive. It's just kind of nice to have a liaison at the law school that is a current student and can be honest with you.
(2) Aside from bars, there are definitely parks and movie theaters in Lexington! There are also tons of areas to hike and do other outdoor activities within a very short drive. There's even an OUTDOOR drive-in movie theater in Lexington! I've been several times and it is legitimately really fun.

wow the outdoor activities sounds good to me..and i've never experienced an outdoor drive in before..why wasn't any of this mentioned before when someone asked about what's there to do!...coming from someone who doesn't drink, it was just beginning to annoy me that people were only worried about bars (of course its not only but to get my point across i'm implying only..lol)Maillot Jaune wrote:(1) Some of the current students that are responding on the facebook page and on this thread are "law ambassadors." Many people deem "social life" as Bars / restaurants. Not a very accurate depiction, but that usually becomes the description in most LS threads
I'd also like to add that almost all W&L social discussions I've seen have included talks about all the available outdoor activities / a lack of a mall / shopping type of area

Re: shopping areas. There are a handful of boutiques/other places to shop in downtown Lexington, as well as about several restaurants. I usually do most of my clothes shopping online, or I'll go to Charlottesville(1hr away)/Richmond(2 hrs)/DC (3hrs)for the day/weekend which all have great shopping and restaurant scenes.

This. Glad to see some honest and what seem like genuine responses from current students. I'm definitely apprehensive about the lack of social scene, but my fears have been alleviated somewhat by talk of a communal atmosphere. Thanks to all the students who responded. Hope to see some of you during the Open House!T00L wrote:For the record, I think it's a definite positive that a bunch of current students jumped in here very quickly and wrote lengthy responses to our Lexington worries. At the very least, we know these students are quick to support their school.

Got the scholarship letter today. $20k/year with same 3.15 stipulation. Makes it close to the in-state tuition I would get at UNC if accepted. This will make my decision a lot harder.
