Hmm... interesting. Then again, I don't want to hurt my potential chance of being accepted off the WL by highlighting for them the fact that I might like to defer for a year...bigjinjapan wrote:All of my WL schools said specifically that you are NOT allowed to do this. Probably a silly question but thought I would lob it out there... thanks in advance, TLS.
On the other hand, I have heard that some people currently on WLs have been able to turn that into deferred admission for next year (see the Michigan WL thread for some examples). So if this is something you're considering maybe you should reach out before they accept you?

Re: Waitlist Hell
you might be able to negotiate a specific lease where you could give the tenant one month's notice, and eat a month of rent or something if you're up front with the management company about your situation so they don't assume you're a deadbeat.kimkim wrote:silly question. what happens if i break my lease? do i have to find another who would take over? do i have to suck it up and pay the rent till it ends? im freakin out about getting a place near one of my ins, but not sure what i would do if i get accepted to one of my WLs after setting everything up to attend another school... need some advise..

Re: Waitlist Hell
Im not completely sure what you mean by influence. Im originally from NYC dont know if I want to practice here I worked in NYC for three years right out of undergrad not sure if I like the intense every man for himself work environment. I could see myself in DC and Cali. not sure doing what though...flexityflex86 wrote:i'm a splitter too. unfortunately none of this influence me, but congrats. is $ all the same, and where do you wanna practice??auroojgulzar wrote:Thanksflexityflex86 wrote:which 3?auroojgulzar wrote:off three waitlists...

Re: Waitlist Hell
by influence, i meant schools i'm in contention at. i'd pick hastings personally, but a lot of people will tell you w&l. i don't imagine people outside nyc advising you of cardozo, but a lot of people in nyc saying cardozo (mostly because they've heard of it).

LOL its not that simple. It required alot of persuasion. I felt that they were so accommodating that its hard to not make it a big factor.flexityflex86 wrote:that's cool they gave you that much money. i just got some scholarships. no law schools sent me massive checks with my acceptances. they must have really liked your apps.auroojgulzar wrote:Im leaning towards money aswell as they gave me 70K.

I doubt it will hurt your chances because, if they do take you off the WL you won't be able to defer, whether you'd like to or not. I don't see any downside whatsoever to asking whether it would be possible or not if you're really interested.kristyk wrote:Hmm... interesting.
