I don't live in Terrace, but I can give you my perspective. Terrace is ok. You get a spacious bedroom, which you can have to yourself, and your own bathroom. You share a kitchen and a living room. It's not the best deal you can find, but you can do a lot worse. People who live there do it for the built-in social network, because you're surrounded (for better or worse) by people going through the same things you are. The crowd is also younger, I'd say most of Terrace went straight through from undergrad. They take care of everything for you, so it's probably convenient, and it's very conveniently located close to school. PM me your email address if you want me to put you in touch with someone who lives there, but otherwise you should visit, or online they have a virtual tour which is accurate.IgnatiusJ wrote:I was thinking about looking at them when I go for the ASD or law day or whatever it is in two weeks, but university sponsored housing leaves me skeptical for some reason. Terrace is in my price range but I'd want a bit more bang for my buck and I'm 90% sure I'll have a car - what neighborhoods would you recommend then? Do you have any thoughts on Korea town? I have a friend living there who likes it. Thanks!Stupendous_Man wrote:I don't live in Terrace, but I can give you my perspective. Terrace is ok. Re: IN at USC Class of 2014 - University of Southern California
As an FYI, I spoke with the admissions office last week and, for the most part, those who withdraw with scholarships aren't really opening up funds. I was told that USC initially offers much more than it expects to pay and that it is rare for USC to have extra funds after the initial offers. Thus, even if there is a high percentage of those who don't accept scholarships, there likely will be no more offers.nonprofit-prophet wrote:Hello all, I'm withdrawing from USC, which should free up 60k for others. enjoy!
I don't mean to say this to be a downer, but I think that the misconception should be cleared up so that people without offers (like myself) aren't waiting in hopes of a second round of scholarships.

I went to USC undergrad and lived in Palms. The commute wasn't bad.TUP wrote:What's the morning commute like from culver city/palms?

can you give an approximate time frame of how long it took to go east and at what time in the AM? ThanksLPSDBX wrote:I went to USC undergrad and lived in Palms. The commute wasn't bad.TUP wrote:What's the morning commute like from culver city/palms?

I typically left home at around 8 or 8:30 am, and traffic was usually heavy in the opposite direction (westbound lanes were busy in the morning, eastbound in the afternoon). There was the rare traffic jam, of course, but it almost always took about 15 minutes to get to school.JJDancer wrote:can you give an approximate time frame of how long it took to go east and at what time in the AM? I recommend Palms/Culver City. It's a great area and I'd definitely live there again.

Expensive! Over $400/semester to park on campus or in PS1 or PS2 (the two structures at Figueroa/Exposition) that are closest to the law school.innernetp wrote:What's the parking like? Does it differ for 1Ls?

I'm flying into LA tomorrow!! So excited!!!! To add to the excitement I have my thesis defense tomorrow so I'll be havin' a drink on the plane.
I get in later at night - around 9:00 or so. Anyone in the area recommend anything for a single lady? Single as in alone, haha. I'm thinking about getting a cab to a comedy club or something? I had bad timing and so there won't be a bar review...

I am in!
I am hoping to find housing in an apartment complex with fellow USC law students, so if you are currently searching, you can PM me and I'll trade contact info so we can share our search results.
FYI Park La Brea apartments in Miracle Mile received terrible reviews, which changed my mind after I considered leasing there.
Miracle Mile, Korea Town, and Down Town seem the most promising areas to me, though Down Town has less to do since it's a business district.

False false false. I live in Santa Monica on the beach and i LOVE going downtown for the restaurants and bars. Don't rule out downtown at all.in__flux wrote:I am in!

+1 for keeping downtown in the picture. I live downtown now, and there is stuff to do.snichols16 wrote:False false false. I live in Santa Monica on the beach and i LOVE going downtown for the restaurants and bars. Don't rule out downtown at all.in__flux wrote:I am in!

How long after the snail mail decision did you all receive the admissions packet? Does the admissions packet include scholly/financial aid award or is that separate?

Re: IN at USC Class of 2014 - University of Southern California
Well for me, I received my snail mail decision on 2/10 and my admissions packet on 2/12 (but I live in LA). The admissions packet did not include scholly information, but that might have just been b/c USC did not make its first scholarship awards until late March. I'm not sure if scholarship notification will be different now (i.e. included with the admissions packet).V811 wrote:Checking in!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
