Yes. The vast majority of people I know found summer internships. I'm from Seattle, but I found my job through the career center, not personal connections. It isn't hard to find unpaid internships, although there are a few people that I don't believe found anything, but most did. There're so many externships open too that I feel if you really wanted to work you could have found something.

Is anyone going into patent law? Does anyone know anything about summer jobs for patent law students or full-time job prospects? Really, any info would be appreciated. I'm getting a little nervous as the fall approaches about the decision to go into patent law. I keep hearing about the dismal job prospects for attorneys and that perhaps I should just stick with engineering...

Thoughts?

I am interested in the above as well, but I only have a biochem B.S. degree. How many jobs are there for patent litigation positions? Are there several firms with IP departments that are hiring in Seattle?

Probably a ton less than there are positions for people with a B.S. in BioChemistry or a Master's in Engineering.

Private practice is not the only place where you could find work in IP. With a biochem degree you can very easily work for Pharma. There is major, major money in pharma. Except patent work can be amazingly dull.

But it seems that a JD+BS degree makes a very marketable person.

I was told today that enough people registered for summer that they did not yet need to visit the waitlist.

Any more thoughts on starting LS school and the economy? Or finding jobs in Seattle?

Congrats! Anyone else? I'm still waiting on both UW and Seattle U. How weird is that to be waitlisted at both?

Congrats an getting in guys! If you're in town, there is going to be an event at the Garage Tavern hosted by phi alpha delta tomorrow night, June 23rd, from 830pm till 1030pm. First 25 1Ls will receive a free drink of their choice! This event was one of a handful I distinctly remember meeting some of my best friends here at SU last year and was a lot of fun. If you guys have any questions about it, shoot me a PM and I'll be sure to check them tonight and tomorrow afternoon.
