When is everyone moving down to lubbock? I'm moving at the end of July and would like to meet up with some future classmates before orientation/classes start.

My move in date for the centre is august 13. I was going to come earlier, but I decided to live like an undergrad for a little longer...

I was planning on being in Lubbock at the beginning of august, but my apartment won't be ready until the 12th of august so I guess I'll be there then.txag10 wrote:My move in date for the centre is august 13. I was going to come earlier, but I decided to live like an undergrad for a little longer...

Re: Texas Tech Fall 2011
That tuition spike was the nail in the coffin. I got into my reach, and was able to convince them to give me in-state. It's not much more than Tech now, whereas yesterday there was a huge difference. I'm visiting my reach tomorrow, but chances are I will be withdrawing, which is good for those of you on the waitlist!

Does anyone know if they'll be adjusting our cost of attendance now? Because that 16-17k just got thrown out the window. How can they honestly justify a 6k increase and still have the nerve to call themselves a "value" law school?

Re: Texas Tech Fall 2011
The CoA is now 36,711. The increase in tuition and fees was a tad over 4,500, not 6,000. You can't really factor in the increase in the other stuff since that is just set by the school with seemingly arbitrary numbers. Yes, the big increase does really sting, but it's still quite a bit cheaper than lot of schools when factoring in the cheaper CoL in Lubbock.alison12102 wrote:Does anyone know if they'll be adjusting our cost of attendance now? My CoA is still sitting at 31k, so I hope they change that soon. But still, close to a 25-30% increase in one year? That fact right there undercuts the point of a "value" school. Also considering they were relatively conservative with scholarships this year...I choose to be mad at Rick Perry and not Tech lol. That's what I'm telling myself, at least.
Btw, has anyone gotten any other info on orientation? We're getting pretty close now and I'm still pretty clueless about fall.

Financial aid stuff should be adjusted by monday or tuesday i would think. I agree with you about the increase though. I think all of the texas public schools got a ton of their funding cut but the other public schools were already quite a bit higher. Tech wasn't able to make it work with their current tuition and fees and had to account for the drop in funding, whereas the other schools were maybe operating with a little bigger buffer and that was able to help with the drop in funding.

Looks like they are working on the financial aid stuff. My cost of attendance now reflects the increase.

Same here. Guess I'm just waiting for the GRAD loan now. Wonder when they'll determine those. Man, I'm getting a little nervous with the lack of info they're giving us.A12345 wrote:Looks like they are working on the financial aid stuff. My cost of attendance now reflects the increase.

Grad loans are separate. You can always take out grad plus up to the cost of attendance, so there isn't really anything to worry about. Does anyone else have a Texas Public Education Grant showing up? I have one for a total of 4,000. It has 2k the first and 2k the second.

I know they're seperate and I already applied for one, but the PLUS app said that it'll be sent and determined what I'm eligible for by Tech and I haven't heard anything else on it. It's not even on my financial aid. I hope they get things together in the next couple weeks and give us some actual useful info.

It says on the accepted students page that they are now updating our financial aid packages.

I love the emails from Tech. They're all so friendly lol.
Anyways, wish they would give info on orientation, but so far things are moving right along. Liking how my section is shaping up, hope they don't change me!

All my classes have a four after it, so I'm guessing that's our designated section. My schedule is kinda on the sucky side though. Oh well...A12345 wrote: What section are you in? Anybody in section three?
