Does anyone know when Brooklyn starts sending out Scholarships? Also how do you know if you're going to get one or not... someone mentioned that their acceptance letter talked about them being considered for one?? Has anyone heard of ppl in the past receiving them when their acceptance letter didn't mention it?

Re: Brooklyn Law School 2011 Cycle
Someone please punch me in the face! I'm developing an eye twitch from this whole process.
I've gone from complete, to under review, to in review all over the course of 2 months. I know I'm not alone in the in the length of time the committee has been sitting on my application, but my god awful numbers should have relegated me to an auto-ding pile LONG ago. I've e-mailed a 3rd, supplemental "please excuse my shiteous LSAT scores" essay and a rusty-trombone of a LOCI (with no reply) and still no status change either way. Should I give up hope? Should I take a xanax and stop reading into the actions of what is probably an extremely busy and backlogged adcomm? I'm supposed to be writing chapters of my grad thesis right now and all I can do is obsessively check the BLS application website for status updates. Is there any end in sight? dare I think it could be a happy one?

+1. I thought they sent me a box of bricks or something. No wonder the tuition is so damn high, that this was ridiculous!nicole88 wrote:wow, biggest "admitted students information packet" EVER. does scholarship info normally come at the same time? or later?

Anyone else just get an email about the merit based scholarships... I'm assuming those are different from the scholarships they offer in mid-march?

Those are for fellowships, slightly different from merit-based because you actually have to do something.mustwingame7 wrote:Anyone else just get an email about the merit based scholarships... I'm assuming those are different from the scholarships they offer in mid-march?
Was it obnoxiously large for anyone else? or just me?

Thanks, got it. I haven't received my packet yet. I was admitted on Friday, so I should be receiving it sometime this week.rman1201 wrote:Those are for fellowships, slightly different from merit-based because you actually have to do something.mustwingame7 wrote:Anyone else just get an email about the merit based scholarships... I wasn't able to find it anywhere. I've been in review since 1/3 and am starting to wonder if it means anything that it has taken so long...I'm starting to feel rejected, despite never recieving a rejection letter. So frustrating.Ldubs wrote:Did they say when the deadlines it to hear for people who applied in catagory 1? I applied 11/18 and i'm still sitting in review.

Thanks! Well, I'm still waiting to hear back from nine schools and also will have to see if I get any offer of scholarship money - I guess they fill you in about that part later. I've toured BLS and think it would be a good fit for me, but I don't have enough information quite yet. I am excited to be in, though.

I can't remember my exact dates, but there's a link to my LSN info on my profile. I did enter the dates there.blacklawboss wrote: Sorry for incomplete thought, avg wait for response.
ETA: I should mention that my application with BLS was on hold for about two weeks because my undergrad university had to fill another form and send it in before BLS would review me, so that should be factored into the return time.

Looks like you only waited about two weeks from complete to decision...I think you are on the "extremely quick" side of the equation though, it appears many people have waited months for a decision. I surmise your high LSAT score made you a top priority.Lawst wrote:I can't remember my exact dates, but there's a link to my LSN info on my profile. Now that you're in, could I have just one point from your LSAT score?

FWIW, I was a panicky mess for my first LSAT and I got a 158, even though I had been scoring in the mid-160s in practice. So, I'm a big proponent of the retake.

Have you heard from Cardozo yet? they are moving super fast this year trying to lure high scorers with $Lawst wrote:I can't remember my exact dates, but there's a link to my LSN info on my profile. I did enter the dates there.blacklawboss wrote: Sorry for incomplete thought, avg wait for response.

Re: Brooklyn Law School 2011 Cycle
Nope. They also put me on hold for two weeks to wait for a form and I'm still in review as of 2/8 or so. It was frustrating because I think BLS and Cardozo are my best bets for my range. However, I've heard around these forums that Cardozo is favoring high GPAs more this cycle than in the past, and my GPA sucks. So, I'll just have to wait and see.blacklawboss wrote:Have you heard from Cardozo yet? they are moving super fast this year trying to lure high scorers with $Lawst wrote:I can't remember my exact dates, but there's a link to my LSN info on my profile.
