True, or that all of the 164s and 165s that don't get in to Davis go to Hastings.bk187 wrote:
The TLS stats are several years old, iirc.

Re: UC Hastings 2011
those numbers are for Davis' accepted students, not matriculating students. It doesn't say who's #'s they are specifically, they left it ambiguous on purpose I think. The numbers they put up on their website last year were about the same, but those were for admitted students, not matriculating students. I suspect they did the same thing here, except this time they took out the description and instead left those numbers without any description next to a paragraph about the enrolled class to imply those are the numbers of the enrolled class.chicityteacher wrote:I have been looking at the numbers on the Hastings and Davis websites, and it is difficult to say definitively which is more competitive. If anything, Davis may be slightly more so than Hastings.
First, acceptance rate is almost the same for each. Hastings = (1323/5881) = 22.5%, Davis = (944/4018) = 23.5%
The numbers is what confuses me:
Hastings
GPA: 3.45 - 3.6 - 3.71
LSAT: 160 - 164 - 165
Davis:
GPA: 3.35 - 3.69 - 3.83
LSAT: 161 - 164 - 167
.
frankly, Davis' BS employment #'s combined with this has impressed upon me their administrations reckless BSing w/ the facts (to the point where they are obviously gaming rankings and misrepresenting themselves at the cost of misinformed applicants). We need schools to be more transparent, and Davis is one of the least transparent I've come across.
If you doubt me, send them an email asking them point blank whether those numbers are for admitted students or for matriculating students. I bet you won't get a response. (and if you still won't believe me compare the LSN graphs (the green yellow red dot graph) of each school, the only difference is that Hastings prefers LSAT splitters while UC Davis prefers GPA splitters)

Just received a tweet about this new interview with Greg Canada, Hastings' Dean of Admission. Haven't read it yet . . . just thought I'd pass it along.

Question for us poor waitlisted souls...
I know for a lot of schools LOCI and additional materials are a good idea to send over but in the case of Hastings they seem pretty clear that:
"Because we have a very large number of applications to process, we will appreciate if you do not call or email us regarding the waitlist"
Are people in the same situation as me ignoring this? Should I still send over additional info, LOCI etc? Hastings is my first choice but they seem pretty clear in their desire to hear nothing more from me. Anyone have any suggestions/tactics to share?

Question for those of you who were admitted
Did someone from the admissions office call you to tell you that you were accepted? Because my boyfriend was accepted that way and I was wondering if they do this for everyone...

I got a call followed by a letter, and I think everyone who I've seen post on TLS also got a call and a letter, but some people seem to have received their letter before or on the same day as their call.HopelesslyOptimistic wrote:Question for those of you who were admitted

Has anyone heard about money? If so, did it come with the admittance packet? in an additional email? or some other way?

Accepted mid-January and nothing here. I'm really anxious to hear about need-based grants, which from what I hear Hastings does give with some regularity. I might give them a call tomorrow.Krodizzle wrote:Has anyone heard about money? If so, did it come with the admittance packet? in an additional email? or some other way?

Do give them a call. I called yesterday and talked with someone named Christian in the office. Very nice guy and helpful on all fronts. Felt badly that I am going to withdraw, but...jwmalone87 wrote:Accepted mid-January and nothing here. Sadly I only got a letter, in a thin envelope. Would have loved a call. Maybe my #s are too low for that, or my essay really stank. Not sure.

I'm sending an LOCI around March 1st. I want Hastings more than anything else, even if it means I'm a thorn in their ass for a couple months.ELCORCO wrote:Question for us poor waitlisted souls...

Just saw your post in the Berkeley CR thread. I am not sure if I can ask why you make your decision so early? PM me if you prefer. Thanks.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:I have withdrawn from my acceptance (enjoy my $500, hastings!) so good luck to whomever gets my slot.

No worries - It's cost primarily. I'm in @ UW with basically a 50% scholly without any strings attached which will make my 1L tuition a hefty $16,700 and 2L and 3L $11,000 each and I just can't swallow Hastings at sticker. I also freaking love Seattle, so geographically, it's a toss-up.tea_drinker wrote:Just saw your post in the Berkeley CR thread. I am not sure if I can ask why you make your decision so early? I am still lovin' Boalt love, but it prolly won't happen, so I just withdrew from basically every school that's accepted me that I have no intention to go to.

Wow, congrats on udubs and the scholarship. You will have a good time in Seattle.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:No worries - It's cost primarily.
