I can attest to this. I took a tour sometime last summer and was shown the same treatment despite being the only person there for the tour that day. I had a one-on-one chat with the admissions staff, a full tour of the facilities by a current student, and an all-around great experience. I highly recommend checking it out if you are interested in DePaul.

I know on their website they say COL is 25k, do you think thats a high estimate or is it a accurate estimate?

i don't know about 25k, but i live in wrigleyville which is a 20-30 minute ride on the Red Line to DePaul, with a roommate so here are my half of the expenses.

Rent: $540/mo ($1080 total)
Groceries: $200/mo (would be enough for one person)
Electric: $50/mo ($100 total, as low as $80/mo)
Gas (heat): $50/mo ($100/mo, as low as $30-$40 during summer)
Cable (internet + HDTV): $50/mo ($100 total, expecting $50 for internet only during school)

factor in cell phone, eating out/going out a couple nights a week, coffee (grande at sbucks is 2.16 after tax), clothes, and the like.

FYI sales tax in Chicago is 10%+

YMMV

I'm sure someone has brought it up at some point in the past on this thread, but does anyone know anything about negotiating for more $$ at DePaul? I just got a significantly higher scholarship offer from a significantly higher ranked school, and wanted to see if I could use it as leverage for more assistance from DePaul (I do love Chicago!).

I would love an answer to this one as well. I've gotten 2 offers from other schools (one ranked higher) for more $$$ but I'd much prefer DePaul and Chicago to either of those schools.

I was offered some money initially from them. During the Open House I spoke with the dean of admissions about their view on negotiations and he told me they wouldn't be negotiating this year.

Does this mean that I have no shot at getting the stipulations removed? If so, that really blows.

I tried to negotiate, and no dice... And I had a higher offer from Denver, UNL, and a full-ride from St. Thomas (MN)... Haven't bothered trying again after WUSTL and Iowa's came through. Planning on withdrawing when I have time to figure out how lol.

I got an email saying that I had also been accepted into the public interest writing section. Does anyone have any idea what this means?

It's a special section of the first year writing course which has a public interest law focus. I was accepted into this as well and it's because I marked that as my area of interest on my application. More info here http://www.law.depaul.edu/centers_insti ... riting.asp

Scholarship offer came in the mail today, 18k per year with a 3.2. It's making it tough to decide between depaul and loyola...

Congrats on the scholly offer. I'm hoping for a bit more to compete with instate tuition for FSU and UF and 35K/year at St Johns. I do really like DePaul so here's to hoping they make it affordable.

That public interest legal writing seems interesting.

I've got the same LSAT as you ashrh01 and was accepted the same day so I'm hoping to get the info in the mail soon.

I am pretty sure my friend got into DePaul off the wait list on the 28th of January, which I thought was really early to get off the wait list. She has a 154 and a good gpa.

Accepted to the PT program off the waitlist today via email.

Status checker changed to waitlisted 2/10, waitlist survey email came 2/11 and acceptance email came today, 2/18.
Applied for FT but expressed interest in both programs on the waitlist survey.

There's definitely some movement going on. =) Even for PT, I'm surprised I got in this quickly.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
