Chicago is about 150 miles from Madison, so about a two hour drive. I have a friend from UG that is in the doctoral program there so I have somewhere to stay and everything. I hear State St. is nuts.mss455 wrote:

My status check has been In Review for a while but the date keeps changing. Is this anything significant?
Thanks Guys.
How many times has it changed? Mine has been the same since I went "In Review" in December.

Re: UW-Madison 2011
hey Flips88, we are number twins, except my gpa is a tad higher. I'm interested in hearing about scholarships as well. Hopefully since we're above both 75%'s that we'll receive an offer that is tempting. If you hear anything about the scholarships keep me posted. When I get my next free day (Wed.) I'll prob shoot them an email or call to see whats up. My FAFSA has been done since Jan.1, however those numbers are estimates(but almost exact on due to referencing it to my last paycheck), however I wonder if they are waiting for us to actually wait till we get our tax returns back to say what the exact number is down to the last cent (not like the info I already provided will differ any). I noticed we both received our acceptances the same day, and we must have jumped the review line, because it seems a lot of other candidates have been waiting longer. I'll let you know what they say Wed., best of luck during the rest of your cycle as well.

Yeah, I'm hoping for a good scholarship offer. I would like to make Wisconsin my choice if I decide I'm too debt averse to take on $200k of debt. Hopefully they'll offer me something that will keep debt to a minimum. I just emailed them this afternoon asking about when to expect scholarship info. I completed my FAFSA on Jan. 15th and my taxes are filed and done and everything. I'll keep you posted.twairlines wrote:hey Flips88, we are number twins, except my gpa is a tad higher. They email acceptances.

need halp
so i messed up big time and sent them the wrong statement of conduct. The one I sent them didn't include speeding tickets, just my dui, and I have two. Advice? most of the schools I applied to said I did not have to include speeding tickets.
I was thinking of just sending them an update.

Yeah, just say you misread and now realize that you were to include traffic violations. Really that part of the app is just for C&F for the Bar afterwards. However, the top of the Wisconsin app does say: "Please prepare this application with the care a lawyer would use in pleading an important case for a client." So there's thatdreakol wrote:need halp

Isn't their endowment the tax payers of the great state of Wisconsin?

State schools receive part of their funding from the state, but nowhere near enough. That's why you see schools raising tuition and fees everywhere during the recession.EK14 wrote:Nightrunner wrote:Sort of - UW does not have a large independent financial endowment, so they can't offer nearly the same number of scholarships as some of their peer schools. Ah, just got waitlisted. Wisconsin is my absolute #1 choice. Any advice on what to include on LOCI?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that in staters historically didn't get much scholly wise. Can't remember at all where I heard this, so I could be completely off though.Nightrunner wrote:Sort of - UW does not have a large independent financial endowment, so they can't offer nearly the same number of scholarships as some of their peer schools. Re: UW-Madison 2011
When waitlisting applicants, does UW send out the same form email to all candidates? I'm thinking that they might send out one to YP's and one to boarderline candidates. So, for example, to YP's they might say, "Send us a letter expressing your interest to attend UW" and to boarderline candidates they might say, "Send us a letter expressing why you'll be successful at UW." Is there any evidence either way?
