Re: UNLV 2010 waiting room.....
for those of you with full ride scholarships, did they offer it to you at the beginning and if so what did it say? Was it a dollar amount or did they say full ride?

I got mine when the packet came in the mail. This is what the offer said:justski wrote:for those of you with full ride scholarships, did they offer it to you at the beginning and if so what did it say? Was it a dollar amount or did they say full ride?
-33,400 for 1L year (OOS tuition)
-full resident tuition for the following years if in the top 33%
EDIT: Just saw your previous post. No, I won't be attending the thing in April. I have already visited twice.

It's definitely worth a try. 22k is a pretty good offer, but 27k would be betterjustski wrote:sweet, thanks. I must have just been under the numbers for the full ride gig. I wonder if i could negotiate that at all? what do you think? they offered me 22,000.

denver is ranked about the same and they gave me 22 as well. U of A gave me 8k but they are ranked a little higher. That would be my only leverage I guess. Maybe Denver? what do you think?

You could just tell them that they are one of your top choices, but a few grand extra would make the relocation to Nevada much easier and would solidify them as your top choice. It certainly wouldn't hurt. What are your numbers anyway?justski wrote:denver is ranked about the same and they gave me 22 as well. U of A gave me 8k but they are ranked a little higher. I tried that too. Sent an e-mail last week, still haven't heard anything. I've got the 2/3 tuition scholarship with a 164 / 3.4 GPA. I got about 1/2 tuition to U of A, which is where I'm leaning right now, unless UNLV comes back with full tuition.

I am withdrawing today with the full tuition. I would like nothing more than for them to give my money to JustSki or Tstack. I don't know how their redistribution of money works though.justski wrote:sweet, thanks. I must have just been under the numbers for the full ride gig. Sorry to hear that Zoomba, but I'm sure you will have a great time in Utah. If I was in your position, I would probably do the same thing. Too bad I live in CA, where the "discounted" resident tuition is over 40k. There are no cheap in-state options for me.Zoomba200 wrote:I am withdrawing today with the full tuition. Re: UNLV 2010 waiting room.....
Yo! It was a way tough decision. We (my wife and I) loved UNLV when we visited and were very tempted by the weather and the scholarship, but ultimately decided that Utah was the best fit for us. It is close, cheap, and I also loved my campus visits there. Are you pretty sure you are headed to UNLV? Or is Davis still in the mix?yo! wrote:Sorry to hear that Zoomba, but I'm sure you will have a great time in Utah. If I was in your position, I would probably do the same thing. I heard back today; they're not able to increase my scholarship at this time. Looks like I'll be playing it safe and heading to U of A. Hope others have better luck.tstack22 wrote:justski wrote:161 3.59 on lsac.

I'm sooo torn...giving up my full ride is proving to be really hard to do, but I'm not sure I want to practice/be stuck in Vegas after graduation...on the other hand..is Ohio State's ranking really that enough of a difference for me to take loans out?

Re: UNLV 2010 waiting room.....
It depends on how much the loans are. I'm in a similar position, since Davis and Ohio are tied in ranking. If I can get enough money to bring the cost of Davis down to like 20-25k, I'll probably just take out the loans and go there. I will just have to see what they give me if I am admitted.Nat1018 wrote:I'm sooo torn...giving up my full ride is proving to be really hard to do, but I'm not sure I want to practice/be stuck in Vegas after graduation...on the other hand..is Ohio State's ranking really that enough of a difference for me to take loans out?

Re: UNLV 2010 waiting room.....
I currently live in Northern CA, but my wife has family in Vegas, so we would be happy in either place. I hope to eventually return after a few years of experience, but I don't mind spending the next 5-10 years in Nevada.Nat1018 wrote:yo! wrote:It depends on how much the loans are. Received acceptance email this last Friday. Finally. No money, but it sure as hell beats waitlists and rejection...

Re: UNLV 2010 waiting room.....
so i went 'in review' on march 5th and have been 'in review' ever since. checked the status check today and there's finally a change...
status date changed from march 5th to april 5th, yet i'm still 'in review'. wtf? did they just put my application to the side to be reviewed at a later date?

Re: UNLV 2010 waiting room.....
Welcome to the club I've been in review since October. It seems if your right on the bubble of getting in or not they will wait to see who commits to the school before either accepting you or wait listing you. My apologies if your not on the bubble but i am 3.1 and 160. I would really like to attend UNLV too hopefully decisions come by Friday.

Good luck guys! It seems like a lot of people didn't put in the deposit (at least if TLS is any indication), so hopefully you can get your decisions soon.
