I think our personalities would be vastly different from our online personas. Kind of like how a bilingual individual finds his/her personality fluxuating depending on what language they're speaking. An IRL environment would additionally add ennumerous social aspects into the equation. We'd deal stereotypes, gender norms, and prescriptive behaviors that aren't as present in our online forum.
We wouldn't necessarily "nicer" we would just be fundamentally different.

And if Lord of the Flies (and my monetarily useless psyche degree) has taught us anything it's that who we are depends overwhelmingly on the power of the situation.

This is why we need Schocolate to start the pastry party planning posthaste. Hopefully tflan can throw in a few flans as well. Nothing calms the JS2 nerves like great food and great company.

I volunteer to make the drinks! I'm an awesome bartender.

I think you're right about this. We owe our convivial discourse here to Hilde's good stewardship from the beginning.

Have you been an actual bartender?? Also, what is everyone's favourite drink?

Twice! Not as job but at a couple of big parties.

This thread is actually reminding me of Scott Turow's description in One L of how basic human decency slowly fell apart in the face of increasing pressure and competition (real or imagined). Looks like that process has moved down to One L.

They don't; interviewing is a necessary but not sufficient condition for acceptance. Definitely check out the FAQ if you want because there is great information (shoutout MD and Hilde) but feel free come back and post with us; the more the merrier! (and oliver is actually a big softie once he warms up to you

Scotch, neat. Already a step ahead in the biglaw game!
If we've got a volunteer bartender, though, I might be convinced to try an Old Fashioned or Manhattan for the occasion.

The stress has driven me to binging on West Wing YouTube clips. And while I'm greatly enjoying myself at the moment, I suspect that there's going to be some consequences in the morning once these clips increase my hype for a JS2 greatly. So, here's hoping we hear good news tomorrow.

Not sure if I've posted in this thread before but I've been following since Hilde's early days as a wise young OP.
In other news: HLS PLEEEAASSE give us JS2's today

That being said, in past cycles calls have come at all times of day, especially as we move later into the cycle. In the past, big waves have started earlier in the day (as early as 10 EST) but we've also seen calls going out well after business hours, generally as part of a wave that began during business hours.
Here's to a big wave beginning at 10am EST! T minus 90 minutes

I like your optimistic attitude. I was like that once, many moons (i.e., three weeks) ago. Now it feels like I sit in the corner of the tavern, rapidly graying, sipping a mug of mead, reminiscing with the other old timers about the time when we had two JS2 waves in two days.

QC, whenever I see you have the most recent post, a part of me always hopes that you're announcing your JS2. It hasn't been the case thus far, but one day. One day.

I know what you guys mean. I went complete two days ago and these past two days of waiting have been unnerving. If a JS1 doesn't come by tomorrow, I may not make it.

*Completely baseless wishful theory*
I'm hoping that, as they did in January, the adcomms will try to work through a back log of JS2s this week before the long weekend.

This is the kind of wild speculation that keeps me going! Also, impeccable cat-tar kenn.
