Held. No JS1 (Interview). I'm a reverse splitter. I really hope that the "once we see more of the applicant pool" thing will have them think they need someone with a really high GPA but not necessarily the best LSAT, and that they spot my file! Could happen, you never know!

Wow...this place makes me feel like I'm walking in a minefield. The worst part is, idk whether to be grateful I'm still alive or whether to hope for swift release from this madness.

I think the holds today were JS1s and non-JS1s who submitted Sept.-Nov.az21833 wrote:assuming these are all nov or prior completes?

So sorry to see you guys get held. Also, with all the solid #s being held, I'm scared to check my email. Saddest, most nerve racking day of my cycle for sure

Makes sense, given that we've only seen a few December JS1s. I was also complete around 12/20 (below median numbers) and have heard nothing.

Edit sorry for grammar on my phoneaz21833 wrote:this also is a travesty. H is being way more picky this cycle than expected. its clear they are not going to let those medians slip further and will take the hit in enrollment if necessary. i bet they want that 2 spot from stanford hard. definately staying at 173, minimum. have enough $ in enrollment.wert3813 wrote:Best as I can tell LSATPrepGuy is the person with the best numbers (3.99; 172) to get a hold pre JS1. First, I think worm is right today may get worse.
Second, calm down. It is not clear at all that they are doing this. Every year a few people with high numbers don't get in for whatever reason. That hasn't even happened today. Just some holds.
Holding a few 4.0 172 also isn't grounds for mass freak out.
Finally, I can't imagine harvard possible cares about two v. Three. Maybe if they could be number one that might change things but I just see no material difference between 2 versus. Also doubt harvard cuts class size.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
There are 1871 people applying this cycle with LSATs between 170-180 (all GPalAs) Harvard accepts a little more than 800/year so they definitely should be able to maintain their class sizes without sacrificing medians. Plus some of their admits are from outside the 170-180 pool.

is this from LSN? Where are you getting this? Not accusatory, just genuinely curious.
Like others have said, they won't have problems keeping their medians. However, it may be slightly easier to get in based on the following:
1. people going to YS instead (300? people, figure 250 with 170-180 LSATs)
2. people going to lower T-14 with $/geographic preference/who knows (who knows how many)
3. some people with 170-180 don't apply to H. I saw a few people on LSN who have not. A very small percentage, but still there. (5-10 people? hah)
4. People accepting H and deferring (2-5 people at most, I would assume)
5. People with low GPAs/splitters who won't be accepted in the first place (who knows how many)

Lavitz, I'm beginning to subscribe to the YP in anticipation of getting into Yale theory. Otherwise, one word: travesty.

Jesus, I sign in and see that today was the freakin' Boston Massacre.... what a depressing way to end the week. I'm really sorry for Lav, Terrible, and everyone else. It doesn't make any sense to anyone here. But still, I think things will turn around as we get into late Feb and March. It's still very early and this cycle is going to be wildly unpredictable. All we can go on is what they've told us: Held just means "we haven't forgotten about you." And that's not so scary

The funny thing is that I predicted this would happen to me way back on page 1.
Better than a rejection imo.Lavitz wrote:I predict many of us with above-median LSAT and below-median GPA will get held until after the February deadline when they can evaluate the entire applicant pool.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I found it a few days ago and scribbled it on a notepad to further torture myself by reality. Its ABA data but I can't pull it on my phone so try this post at the faculty lounge
http://www.thefacultylounge.org/2013/01 ... pdate.html
If there are 373 people with LSATs above 175 and Hs median is below that (173 I think) they still have wiggle room
Also Currently their 25th is at 170 which means there's 418 people at or above a 170 at Harvard out of a possible pool of around 2k (last year)
Sometime when I'm not on my phone I'll type this up in.more understandable detail
