I applied last cycle and this cycle at the exact same point in the cycle, right after Oct. LSAT scores. Applied to the bottom of the T14 (M,D,N,C,G) plus a couple T20s in regions of interest. By this time last year I'd heard from everyone, but have only heard from the two T20s I applied to this year so far. My resume is basically the same (+1 point on lsat, one year of WE). I was WL'd at every T14 I applied to last year (later admitted to one but declined), so it seems schools may be taking a bit longer to feel out what is borderline this time around and what their pool of applicants is looking like.
Just a thought, could be wrong. whatever.
I went to a panel discussion with three admission deans from three of the top 14 law schools and they definitely relayed the message to everyone they were going to take their time this year. They made sure December test takers knew it was okay to get their scores and apply in January rather than wait for next cycle. You could tell they were pushing to get as many applications in as possible and they weren't afraid to hold onto them to ensure the best class possible for their law schools.
Ahhh so that's why Columbia hasn't gotten back to me since October....

Things you take note of as a TLS 0L that you didn't before, #451: credibility of law professors in news articles.
To wit,
this news article on a lawyer's book on getting out of DUIs. Like all good journalists (and Pawn Stars) they went to an expert for a response. From the article: "We spoke with a
cooley law school professor, attorney Curt Benson. He said this effort is not new. And, it’s clear Redlich is using this as a marketing effort for his book and his practice, Benson said."

Regarding the poll--
Why is Michigan grouped with VPB while Duke is grouped with NC?
Are Michigan and Duke that disparate? Genuinely curious as M & D are my top two choices currently.

Just the grouping TLS has always used HYS/CCN/MVPB/DNCG.
I bet most people would say there is no distinction after CCN. Maybe Penn is kinda above the others, but Duke is equal to Michigan/UVA/Berk for sure.

I bet it's because Georgetown has way more alumni and gets a great peer score because of it.

#1 was my fave. conjectures based on data that "isn't out yet" but actually is and 100% contradicts everything you're saying

He probably means that the December numbers went up this year compared to last year... except that's a dumb comparison since the megastorm got tons of centers closed last year. And he didn't even bother to make it.

Yeah. This. Last December was lower than it should have been and February was higher. Therefore, the slight uptick in December was merely a correction, but would probably have been a decline had there not been a big storm last year. Similarly, it wouldn't surprise me if February takers are down as a correction of last year.

Are the new rankings out? I thought this was a March/April thing!

No. Gray is referring to last year's rankings.
