I've also read elsewhere on these forums that the PENN WL is a bit of a dead end but I don't have any numbers to back that up. I'm pretty much in the same boat, would love to get in but I'm not holding my breath at this point.feralinfant wrote:lol at some of these recent waitlists. Really making me think that sticking around on it is nothing short of a fools errand, but I guess I've got nothing to lose.
I think I remember reading a while back that historically Penn doesn't really end up pulling heavily from the waitlist...can anyone confirm this?

has anyone had success negotiating with penn with offers from lower ranked schools? i feel like they only take offers from nyu/chicago or higher seriously and just ignore everyone else. even though i would be ok going to penn at sticker, it still pains me so much to have to pay full price when i have scholarship offers at other really good schools (just schools i wouldn't see myself at over penn).

I was wait listed here and would love to know if there is any chance in hell. but, then again, who I am kidding?Midas Whale wrote:I've also read elsewhere on these forums that the PENN WL is a bit of a dead end but I don't have any numbers to back that up. Re: Penn C/O 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
i took a look at lsn and the sample size is probably too small to really say much, but there didn't seem to be a huge number of people getting off of the WL last year though there were some, and a fair number of these were actually splitters and reverse splitters. But it seems that the vast majority don't get off of the list which seems to comport with some TLS threads from last year i was scrolling through a few months ago. Despite the special snowflake in me that is eyeing the splitters who got off it last year, the people with objectively better number then me for both gpa/lsat on the WL this year are telling me its probably a no go.CMHCLT wrote:I was wait listed here and would love to know if there is any chance in hell. but, then again, who I am kidding?Midas Whale wrote:I've also read elsewhere on these forums that the PENN WL is a bit of a dead end but I don't have any numbers to back that up. tl;dr seems to be don't hold your breath but it's not impossible, even if you're a splitter.
ETA: Just did a really quick count and lsn has roughly 250 people listed as being waitlisted last year. The vast majority of these people either rode it out w/ no result, or withdrew their apps. A whopping 11 people reported being accepted in off the waitlist. So yeah.

+1. Nothing like getting wait-listed by your first choice of school, eh?CMHCLT wrote:I was wait listed here and would love to know if there is any chance in hell. but, then again, who I am kidding?Midas Whale wrote:I've also read elsewhere on these forums that the PENN WL is a bit of a dead end but I don't have any numbers to back that up. Hey guys,
I got accepted back in Feb but still no word on scholarship.
Anyone else still have no idea whether or not they are getting money?

Toll people--any idea when we'll be hearing about decisions? I'm on a tight timetable as I am sure most of you are with deposit deadlines looming!

I called the Toll office today and was told that we would hear before the end of next week but likely sooner than that.Gisney wrote:CMC88 wrote:Toll people--any idea when we'll be hearing about decisions? I'm on a tight timetable as I am sure most of you are with deposit deadlines looming!

Thanks for being the one to call. I hope they take a long time to inform. I'm still awaiting word from 4 schools. Did any Toll applicants receive Dean Merit Scholarship money? I just received notification that I did - so it has me wondering if I'm outta the running for the Scholars Program and that's my consolation. Ha!CMC88 wrote:I called the Toll office today and was told that we would hear before the end of next week but likely sooner than that.Gisney wrote:CMC88 wrote:Toll people--any idea when we'll be hearing about decisions? I got a very sad waitlist Penn the other day, especially sad given my strong Philly ties and a very honest Why Penn. It was especially perplexing because I've been getting big money everywhere else. That's what I get for my February submit.

A very unexpected, but pleasant surprise. The UVA thread has been a graveyard for a while.LRGhost wrote:At least you're in at V with $framboozer wrote:I got a very sad waitlist Penn the other day, especially sad given my strong Philly ties and a very honest Why Penn.
