It's truly really competitive so this is huge and you should be really proud, and celebrate accordingly.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, I hope you are ok. Fordham is pretty understanding of personal emergencies in my experience. I know a couple people who took time off after their first semester of 1L because of personal emergencies. I hope everything works out for you personally and with deferral.

Thanks Jen... I actually just got the email granting my deferral a few hours ago... So that gets me one step closer to better. :)

Congrats, I figure at this point it's pretty unlikely that I'll get it but after thinking about it I'm OK with that. I don't really have the proper background to make myself an appealing candidate for something like that anyway and if the spots are going to people who really deserve it, like JC then what do I have to complain about?

Thanks for the nice words Fujin. I wouldn't give up yet unless they sent a letter saying otherwise. They may well still be in the process.

Has anyone else gotten the email about the night owl classes?
Anyone considering it?

I requested the option today after getting the email. It fits my perfect schedule to a tee.

Thanks,

I applied in early June. I interviewed in person on July 9th. All notifications have been via email.

Good luck if you are trying for this!

^made me more tempted.
I'm still mulling it over, because I'm not sure if it would improve my schedule or not.

For me, it's absolutely perfect. Plus you can commute off peak though not sure that matters money wise with a monthly pass on the LIRR but it does make getting a train easier.

Maybe I'll see you guys in some of my part-timer night classes, I'm trying to pay my way through school by working to reduce to the debt so that means more or less 16 hour days yippee

Absolutely not! I'd much rather go to class at 8am than lose my evenings.

Some tips for 1L success (though it might not help errbody, I can't really see it hurting anybody too much):

Your fall schedule will be similar to this if you do flex (add in legal writing somewhere in there too):

Hey, looking for some honest advice

Just heard back from Fordham

Is it worth it at sticker? Don't care about big law, just a law firm job

There is no objective answer to this.

There are soooooo many variables not to mention personalities.

What Fordham does really well is place in biglaw and even midlaw in NYC especially compared to its ranking.

Are you NYC or bust?

Are you planning on taking ALL of CoA in loans or do you have other funding?

Do you have someplace you can stay in NYC or do you have to rent an apartment by yourself?

Are you risk adverse?

While you may not care about big law if you are looking at 200K+ of debt it would matter a lot unless you are looking at a PI area that allows loan forgiveness.

Are your parents/employers/government/someone else helping you pay for it?

Are you looking at full or part time and do you have a job lined up if part time?

Take a look at this:

Take a look at this:

You tell me. Also, if you do not have a finance background, I would suggest consulting someone who does before making the decision. Show them the above information.

What if cost of living is not an issue...living with family?

Just tuition alone at Fordham?

Is anyone going sticker or close to it?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
