I really want to stop checking the status because I don't want to see DLS without knowing whether it's a rejection or waitlist. If it's a rejecting, then I'd just be wasting my time deciding how I feel about being on the waitlist. Unfortunately it's not that easy to quite...
I'm maintaining some hope that there are still some acceptances left in the tank. Good luck everyone.

This is a really crazy year all around. Low applicants put a crunch on numbers at the high end with every school trying to play cautiously to make sure they can keep their numbers while not admitting too many people. Harvard's put tons of people on hold and hasn't moved on them either, which is probably delaying a lot of Stanford admits from accepting. Brinkmanship all the way.

But that's the thing, I am not a low number applicant. I don't know what would be taking them so long to make a decision :/

i feel as though they're still considering the ones that are left. maybe a lot of us will ultimately ride the waitlist or be rejected, but the fact that we haven't received decisions is telling. we could have easily been rejected or waitlisted last week, or the week before last. perhaps stanford is waiting to see who withdraws after asw or after yale/harvard/t-6 deposit deadlines. clinging to hope!

you might be right but stanford is notorious for having small trickles of WL/rejections and then mass WL/ rejections after..i dont know why...but the fact that we have not received WL/rejection doesn't really mean much.

The only pledge they make is to "try their best" to have all decisions given out by April 30. It's not April 30 yet. And they don't even promise it. I think people are too easily projecting their anxiety onto this idea that SLS is doing something wrong...

I don't think so. Everywhere else has given a decision. We spent 100 goddamn dollars in this school. They should have told us by now.

just to make sure you don't kill your chances what exactly are u going to say? Don't want this to end up biting u in the butt

Also when you call the person who answers will just say "they are trying to get all the decisions by May 1st" I do not think you are going to get more than that.

What's the point of this? I know you're tired and frustrated (I certainly am and I've been complete since late-Oct), but what productive interaction do you think you're going to have with the admissions office? All they're going to do is tell you that they're working hard to get decisions out by April 30th/May 1st. If you get snippy or indignant on the phone, you might even mess up your own chances.

You've waited 4-7 months. How much can it hurt you to stick it out for a few more days?

+1. Realistically, I don't think there's a big chance any of us will be admitted outright at this point. You never know though. That's why I'm waiting to find out a final decision before committing to Berkeley. I paid $100 so I at least deserve to know a final decision! I'm on hold at Harvard too but there's no way I'd go there since I definitely want to stay in California.

Aspen, I am literally in exactly the same situation: in at Berkeley, silence from Stanford, and on hold at Harvard. I am just waiting on Stanford before committing definitively to Berkeley (I totally fell in love during ASW). That being said, Stanford would be a dream come true... at this point, I just want some closure so that I can make my decision and be done with it.

General word of advice: Admissions offices are way more lenient than you think with regard to "deadlines" - even for deferrals. Ask for an extension and be sincere. You'll get it.

I would suggest you do this before you call Stanford...I don't know if we are all destined for WL/rejections anyway but I don't think giving them a deadline will help your chances.

No, I have until June which is when Cal requires you to withdraw all your applications when you commit. Considering I paid money to the place, I just want to get a final decision, whatever it is.

i called today to ask about app status. the woman was polite, asked me if i checked my status checked. i said i had. she said that if it doesnt say dls it is still being continuously reviewed. i laughed to myself and said thanks for your time.

Exact same situation here, under LSAC rules though, I don't think you need to withdraw your application from a school at which you have not heard back when saving a space at another, as someone was mentioning the june 1 deadline, this has definitely been addressed on tls before as well as by the dean of yale law. I think they are just trying to pressure us, not to mention how will they know if we have or have not withdrawn our applications, or are on a wait list ?
