question about "held" applicants...

I got held a few weeks ago and I've been working on my essays. For some reason I thought they were "due" by april 1st, but now going back and looking at my 'held' portal/page I don't see a due date. I think I may have been confusing the april 1st date with something else, like maybe that's when they said they would start reviewing apps again or maybe that's when they wanted me to submit the 'held' confirmation form or something? Does anyone know if there's a definite "due" date on the held materials, or if you can just submit them whenever?

I don't think there was a hard deadline, but unless you have an interview in April, the earlier the better.

Whoever is suggesting that NU's on-campus interviews are "conversational" is a gunner trying to burn the rest of you. It's a serious interview with an admissions officer that will cover 20+ questions and topics.

lmao... we haven't even started and the gunning is real.

Yeah I don't know what that's about, maybe the hold interviews are more serious, but I talked about Michigan football and the Northwestern player's union for at least 20 minutes. It lasted a solid 45 minutes total. Mine was also with a current 3L.

I really don't mind reading all the posts from held people, but perhaps it would be easier for you guys to keep your info in one location (and maybe I'll end up in there too) if you started your own thread?

For the 5 (+) of us that submitted a while ago and are still waiting, what are your numbers? I'm wondering if we're all borderline cases.

I'm 168/3.4 and the only reason I think I have a decent shot is WE (I'm a software engineer at a well-known software company) and a strong narrative that I built my application on (overcoming adversity, homelessness/been taking care of myself since 14).

173/3.5x, WE is... unique? but probably not great.

Submitted ages ago.

The Hold Form was by April 2nd. I called and confirmed they'd like the response questions by that date as well

Mystery solved. I think we broke the adcom.

I'm going to corroborate the broken adcomm theory. I'm under medians, but unique softs and my interview went just about as well as an interview could go. Numbers close to yours ramblingfool. Let's hope there's room for us at NU. *thinking positively*
