Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Finishing up my WL "Why UChicago" letter. I went to undergrad there, but didn't apply through Chicago Law Scholars because of the money gamble. Should I bring this up? My GPA is low so I would likely have been WLed anyway, but I wonder if they took offense or took it to mean I didn't really want to go to Chicago.

I haven't gone under review yet
They've had my app for 9-10 weeks now, so I'm hoping soon they will look at it!

Yeah, when is Chicago's deposit deadline? Perhaps we can expect more activity after that day?JXander wrote:Aja, I am in the same position as you. Wait, what? What if you are waitlisted after that date? And I didn't know there was LOCI info for Chicago, aren't they the ones that don't want you to send any additional information unless you have a C&F issue?TripTrip wrote: Monday!(That's also why Monday is the WL LOCI deadline.)

(1) You may submit an additional essay discussing the reasons why you are interested in studying law at Chicago and how our curriculum and academic environment will help you achieve your personal and professional goals. Please limit your essay to two pages and submit your essay to admissions@law.uchicago.edu. If you have already submitted a similar essay with your application, you may simply submit a statement of continuing interest and reference the essay you submitted with your application.
(2) If applicable, please provide updated transcripts by submitting them through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC).
The deadline for submitting an additional essay is April 15, 2013. You may submit your updated transcripts to LSAC as they become available. Please note that submitting supplemental materials is entirely optional and we will only accept materials electronically. In addition, if you have not already interviewed with a member of the Admissions Committee, you may be contacted in the coming months to set up an interview.

That or anyone still not WL/Admit/Deny is in line for a recycled scholarship. Personally I'm happy not to be in that pile. I don't want no dirty money that some HYS admit had their greasy, disgusting, prestige-whore fingers all over.Big Dog wrote:And all of those Jan-Feb apps that have yet to go under UR get tossed in Da' Lake.Monday! Dammit, you made me go check. Every LSN applicant who reported withdrawing from a full-ride at UVA got HYS.Big Dog wrote:long as it ain't laundered thru any HYS hands, then all is good.
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
Maybe I'll have to reconsider that recycled money after all. Grooooosssss.

I just re-read the first line of the LOCI I emailed a few hours ago. I referred to myself as a "perspective" student.
I am an idiot.

Pretty sure if I were the member of the adcomm who read that, I'd make some witty joke like "Well, you can get a great student perspective -- of my trash can!" before throwing my app away.
And as long as they make that joke before tossing it I'm totally cool with that outcome.

I went complete 1/24 and just went under review last week if that helps fill in the timeline at all.JXander wrote:Aja, I am in the same position as you. I submitted 1/08 and haven't heard ANYTHING from uChi . I don't follow this thread at all but they're my last school and I'm expecting a wl/ ding. Is this abnormal? Is Chicago behind or something?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
