Fellow applicants,
If I send the e-mail below, will I get dinged or in any way negatively affected:
Admissions:
It would be greatly appreciated if you could reply to this e-mail with the total number of admission offers so far for the class of 2014, for statistical purposes. Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,

Maybe it means Tuesday; but then again (and this may just be the anxiety of a fevered mind) maybe it means today...or even Monday (we're closed on Monday, but (still) keep one eye on your phones!).

I wouldn't send it. They'd just reply with some form message "we can't release that information" etc. etc.Nulli Secundus wrote:Fellow applicants,

That's what I read it as--our office will be closed BUT we might be calling.Knock wrote:Huh? How did you interpret that tweet? Yes just like that guy that received a JR1 call from a different number when the office was closed due to snowstorm.Knock wrote:Huh? How did you interpret that tweet? And also:

"Office closed therefore keep..."

Yeah, I could see any of those interpretations as valid. I guess they just want us to keep our anxiety levels up at all timestristanlxboyd wrote:Maybe it means Tuesday; but then again (and this may just be the anxiety of a fevered mind) maybe it means today...or even Monday (we're closed on Monday, but (still) keep one eye on your phones!).

Also, how do we know that's a real HLS twitter feed?

If JR is dedicated enough to make JR1s from his home/cell number during a blizzard, I would think that a mere federal holiday wouldn't keep him from making JR2s in his typical fashion.

This is relevant to my interests as well.Confused7 wrote:Sorry to hear about the dings too! I didn't check TLS for the whole day and now this...Was anyone previously held? Don't know if I'm safe for the next 2 hours of the day.
Edit: Also, did the dings come via email? I hope so b/c I don't have access to regular mail.

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
Held Friday. Had JR1 in January. I have been reading the sticky thread about LOCIs and figuring out what I want to address in my Harvard LOCI. In the LOCI thread they mention naming specific peer schools that you have been admitted to (saying even though I've been admitted to X school, I am still very interested in....)
I recently found out I received a full Darrow. Would it be advantageous to say that I've been awarded a full Darrow at Michigan, but am still very interested in H?
Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
These are just thoughts from an uninformed perspective, but I would say that if you do mention it, do it carefully considering undertones. Harvard doesn't give merit aid, so if you mention the Darrow it may give them a sense that you're looking at the possibility of going somewhere else for free. If you do mention it, be sure to make it clear why you would pick Harvard over the Darrow (would you definitely, btw?), just don't make it sound like a scholarship negotiation letter.jaws wrote:Held Friday. PS: I was also held on Friday, and am also trying to figure out how I'll tell Harvard that, surprise surprise, I'm still interested.

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
Thanks for this. I have no idea what I would do in the case of Darrow vs. HLS. If I do mention the Darrow, I'll definitely do it judiciously. Not sure if I will address it.mel2010 wrote:These are just thoughts from an uninformed perspective, but I would say that if you do mention it, do it carefully considering undertones. If I had a JR1 on the 8th and still haven't heard anything new... is this a bad sign?
