Hey guys! I was held as well way back. I decided to interview on-campus after doing the off-campus with an alum. I was wondering how long those interviews for other people on hold lasted? I thought mine was shorter than I expected. The questions were asked in rapid succession though.

What type of questions did they ask? Any curveballs or just standard interview questions?

My interview lasted about 25 minutes. Is that a bad sign?

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Although length of an interview is suggestive of a "good" interview, we have to remember that each interviewee is different and the interviewer is looking for answers to specific categories. For Northwestern they're trying to gauge your maturity, sincerity, listening skill, career progression, project management, intellect, career focus, and etc.
So even though an interview may be long for others, it doesn't necessarily mean that the interview went well.
Some examples that would cause interviews to be longer:
-Interviewee is rambling, not concise with answers, and has long moments of silence.
-Interviewee's answer does not give the adcomm insight into the traits listed above.
-Interviewee asked more question than interviewer.

Interviewed off campus with an adcomm in October. Took about 30 minutes, which worried me, but I was admitted with the first batch of students in December. If you've done your homework, you might actually move the interview along more quickly than one who is less informed. I think this was instrumental in the success of my interview.Bigman12 wrote:My interview lasted about 25 minutes. Is that a bad sign?

My interview was exactly 1 hour. It was off campus and very conversational. My status went complete a week later and then 3 weeks later I was accepted. Don't read too much into the length of your interview.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the advice! It really has helped. The length had made me nervous, but I guess I shouldn't read too much into that. I can finally sleep at night now!
Hoping this works out for me, easily my top choice!

What kind of questions did they ask? I did an off campus interview, but I'm trying to prep for my on campus hold interview, which is quickly approaching.Bigman12 wrote:Hey guys! On hold and scheduled an on campus interview as well. I also came here for some advice on the format and content of the interview. Thanks bloomingtea for your answer. Anyone else have input especially for those on hold?

I applied in mid January, the night before the deadline to request an off campus interview.. I'm in NYC so I opted for the alum interview but got an email that they were done with off campus interviews in my area and gave me the option of taking an on campus interview - so I did. I was also surprised at the interview based on some TLS comments.. it was rapid succession Qs like "tell me about a time you faced conflict. tell me about your biggest leadership role" etc. Went fine, lasted about 50 minutes. Interview was about 3 weeks ago.
Haven't heard anything since. A bit of a reach for me but applied with the edge of having an MS in biotechnology and looking to do hard IP law.
Best of luck on your interview!

For those that are held, roughly how long are your essays?
I know it says max. 750 words, but one of mine is only ~450 words. Is it too short?

Neither of mine approached 750...one was ~<650 and the other like 450. My 450 one I feel was kind of unique though, but I'm sure thats the same for youstr8yolked wrote:For those that are held, roughly how long are your essays?

I really don't mind reading all the posts from held people, but perhaps it would be easier for you guys to keep your info in one location (and maybe I'll end up in there too) if you started your own thread?
Not me complaining that you guys are writing on here; I don't mind at all. Just thought it would maybe be easier for you.
Hell, I should start a "People Who Haven't Heard from NU and it's F_ing Breaking their Hearts Class of 2017" thread.
As of now, it would just be me and theramblingfool. sigh.

It is ASW on Friday and Saturday. You could probably clear out a bunch of room in the class all at once.leigh912198972 wrote:theramblingfool wrote:It had not previously occurred to me that killing a TLSer could improve my chances...JustHawkin wrote: Hunger Games: The Battle for NU.
