I hate to say it but I'm thinking it was a soft waitlist. Who really knows though. The deferral email said they would consider our applications again once the Feb. 1st deadline passed so hopefully we will hear something soonish.

when i got deferred at UT this cycle, i remember checking last year's LSN cycle and seeing a bunch of deferred people get admitted in Feb. might be a similar ray of hope here

After reading through the entirety of last year's deferred EA at Cornell thread (I was at work, so I consider it a good use of my time), I found it was pretty much a bloodbath. Isn't it strange that we went complete over the weekend? Is that normal? I definitely hope that we will find out earlier. I graduate the first week of May - a mid to late April decision will be a bit stressful. I'm a borderline candidate, so I'm also scared of getting waitlisted. I feel your pain. My numbers are not too hot for Cornell. I don't think that it is odd to receive an update on Sunday.
