This year's FB student group has 190 members, last year's has 260. Are they still pushing everyone to join? Does the 190 represent some seats still unoccupied?
I don't do FB, and it's reasonable to suppose that others don't either.
Really? Good for you. I wish they would block it at my school... Did they send you an invite? I have to think there are less than 50 Yale admits that don't use FB. However, I am just grasping for straws on a couple of days before decisions come out, so please be gentle  .
I run a Twitter account with hundreds of international followers, though, and also I write a blog that is fairly well circulated in some circles. Both of these activities are better suited to my interests than FB.

I can't decide if I'm picturing Dwight Shrute or Andy Bernard saying this...

how funny. For two years I blogged and ran a political forum with thousands of users, but I have no interest in fb. I don't even have an account. I do want to meet my fellow future classmates, but I'm not sure it's worth giving up my fb-free status for.

I only started using FB this year because the rest of my family started a network to stay connected overseas. I never liked FB. As a matter of fact I don't like Twitter either. I generally stay away from these web technologies even though I have been working on similar things before they existed. It's been interesting to see the world getting addicted on all this information.

Sorry, I guess that it sounded a little odd. What I was trying to say was that my personality lends itself better to Twitter and to a blog, where I can communicate with many people in a casual way, than with FB, where I can communicate with a smaller group of people in a close way. I like interacting with lots of people from many different places and backgrounds but not getting too close to anyone.

The blog is a lot of fun because I like to write, and it's an opportunity to write without the pressure of being graded; I can be experimental and creative on it. I didn't mean to sound pompous about it. It only reaches about 25,000 people, so certainly the audience is rather limited.

Like the poster above, I like my FB-free status and intend to keep it, regardless of external pressures.

I once raced infront of 35,000 people.

I worked on Motorola's cable modem website, that's gotta win the cake for "work seen by people" 8)

Nah, it was just my writing. I made it into their "college football mailbag" twice. Also ESPN's once, but theirs is only online.

Based on current discussion, how much will my having been on The Ellen Show increase my chances?

In a contest I once urinated a distance of more than 15 feet. I bet none of you famous and well-published people could do that...

I peed on a longhorn logo once. (I decline to disclose how much I'd had to drink.)

I pissed at over 140 mph so it went well over 2000 feet. Horizontal.
