They've only admitted 20% of the class, give or take, so it has to happen sooner or later

Didn't realize the app deadline was so close (Feb 1st iirc)! Applicant pool will be set - and I'd imagine a lot more movement happens for those on the fringes when this occurs.

They'll prolly extend the deadline. They did last year, and if they don't continue that they will have cannibalized this years pool by doing so.pylon wrote:Didn't realize the app deadline was so close (Feb 1st iirc)! Every time I think we're close to more decisions I realize I'm wrong. I thought maybe if the deadline comes, they'll know what the pool looks like and start releasing more decisions. Then I realized that they still won't have scores from February LSAT takers until probably March and that some schools might extend their deadlines.

With four days notice? AFAIK last year the extension was because of major problems with December lsat administration, so they didn't cannabilize this year so much as save last year.Kobaine51 wrote:They'll prolly extend the deadline. Unrelated, but are they taking February LSATs?

How do you know this? Do they publish the available number of slots + how many of those have already been filled?HorseThief wrote:There are some old slots still open, and new ones too. One slot for tomorrow, fourteen for the week after. Plus 41 new slots for the week following. Smells like a wave.

They don't publish it. HorseThief (and anyone else who has been asked to interview) is still able to log on and see when interview slots are open.nosocat wrote:How do you know this? Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
you're right, IIRC a snowstorm last year interfered with the December administration in the Boston area. So as not to disadvantage those applicants I think HLS extended the deadline for everyone. I don't think that's necessarily an indication that they'd extend it this year, and I kinda doubt they would this late in the game.daedalus2309 wrote:With four days notice? Even if they did I'd imagine that most people who'd apply based on the extension would be big-time reachers, no? And thus wouldn't change the applicant pool much? I doubt many strong contenders for Harvard failed to get their apps in on time, or are counting on there being an extension. It'd probably be mostly people who are thinking "might as well, now."

20% of the enrolled class of a little over 500 but they admit around 900 people total so there are still a TON more going out (if that makes you feel better!)2666 wrote:They've already admitted 20%of the classDetroitRed wrote:They've only admitted 20% of the class, give or take, so it has to happen sooner or later?

No, I meant 1/5 of all acceptances. Theres 112 people in the Facebook group... including current students and admissions. But also there will be people who don't use Facebook, so you can make of that number what you will.terrier27 wrote:20% of the enrolled class of a little over 500 but they admit around 900 people total so there are still a TON more going out (if that makes you feel better!)2666 wrote:They've already admitted 20%of the classDetroitRed wrote:They've only admitted 20% of the class, give or take, so it has to happen sooner or later?

My estimate is 100-120 JS2s have been given out. Regardless of whether it's that, 180, 200, or 250 - there's still lots to come.
