In response to the softs question: Not that I am aware of, especially in this caliber of applicant pool. Started an organization, from a rural area, worked during and after undergrad in the same research position. I was busy and involved, but I doubt much more than most applicants.

Pretty sure that's not true. At least according to the admission blog, holds can either be accepted, rejected, or put on reserve.

173/4.04. My application was not Columbia specific but I did attach a diversity statement about my nationality and religious persuasion.
