I haven't heard anything since UR on 11/24. Getting really stressed! ARGH!

Hey, I'm a long-time lurker, but I thought y'all might be interested in this. All the talk about the importance of work experience a couple of pages backed had me a bit spooked, so I made some charts based on the data available on LSN so far. Of course, it's self-reported and I have the feeling K-JDs are more likely to report, so it's probably slightly skewed in that direction. Also, I don't think most of the people who were held in the past week updated their LSNs to reflect that. With those caveats, the data here is a bit more favorable to K-JDs than I'd imagined.

the real question is what the acceptance/rejection/held rate is for each of these groups, rather than their relation to each other. While this is a little enlightening, it doesn't say as much if the percentage of people applying with years of WE is really high

Oh yeah, good catch. I meant to include some info to clarify that a bit as well. I won't clutter the thread with more charts, but out of the applicants represented here (82 in total), 51% have WE, 36% are K-JDs, and 12% did not report, which is in part why I think it's oddly K-JD friendly.

Yeah, but I was working from that assumption, so I was pleasantly surprised. Granted the tiny sample size and flaws of self-reported data, the percentage of K-JDs accepted so far is better than that of their current class. Of course, that could just mean they'll take fewer from here on in...

It's not a surprise WE is beneficial..I mean seriously...a resume with work experience is better than a resume that's just filled with volunteer, internships, and school activity stuff....

Eh, IDK. I think it depends a lot on the particular person's work experience. I agree if the person in question has an impressive job for someone right out of college (top management consulting firm, top banking firm, TFA, prestigious government job, etc.). That type of thing might be impressive to HLS. WE might also play a big role in your candidacy if you're 5+ years out of school and have had a chance to establish a career for yourself by moving significantly beyond the entry level positions. But if you're just comparing someone's random program assistant job or paralegal job or whatever other glorified menial labor that people do in order to support themselves right out of school to another person's stellar extra curricular activities (editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper, president of the campus community service org, semester-long internship with the UNHCR, etc.), I think the latter person's resume is going to sound much more impressive than the former person's. Just my 2 cents as someone 1-2 years out of school.

This discussion was held a few pages ago on this thread. The consensus is that Harvard doesn't really need a LOCI unless you have a substantial update to your file (better grades from 1st semester, promotion at work, etc.)
