Just got the waitlist e-mail!
How crazy is the UPenn waitlist? Do they abuse it like UVA? Or are they more conservative with it?

Waitlisted today. Not too bummed since I have other offers that would have trumped the most likely scenario from Penn (either no or very little money).

Submitted a LOCI/ Addendum today since I'm still UCR. No rejection/WL yet.
edit: wow they received it quickly, email was responded to within 5 minutes.

Confirmed my interest in staying on the waitlist. I prefer Penn only a little more than the school I will probably commit to soon, so I'm not going to think much about the WL. Does anyone know how easy it is to get off, or did I basically just get soft-rejected?

I'd deposit at the other school and stay on the WL. You never know what may happen, and what your particular position (I mean that relatively) on the WL is.jrose5 wrote:Confirmed my interest in staying on the waitlist. Just make sure that the other school allows you to stay on WLs. I know some don't.

NP. Check the deposit form/site. They usually have some sort of agreement, and it would be stipulated there. There is also info about double depositing, and refund if you withdraw usually.jrose5 wrote:Thanks for this information. I actually did not know that. I was waitlisted yesterday as well. A little surprised that I wasn't flat out rejected.

I applied 2/3, got the complete email 2.15 and have been UCR since 3/8. Should I send a LOCI at this point or wait a bit longer?

Standard procedure for LOCI, if you choose to do one, is three months.splitmuch wrote:I applied 2/3, got the complete email 2.15 and have been UCR since 3/8. Should I send a LOCI at this point or wait a bit longer?

LOL! Penn is my ultimate Hail Mary app. In a last-ditch effort, I'm retaking in June, and if I do well enough (170+), I might as well apply early next cycle so I'll have a realistic shot at my current super-reaches, including Penn. (If I score around the same or worse, I'll happily matriculate at BC/ND/W&M.)r6_philly wrote:You better get in!mettasutta wrote:Under committee review since 3/22.

Still no movement from first UCR 3/8...at this point I'm just confused but I assume we're running out of time for more acceptances...

Best of luck! Even if you get on the WL and retake into a good score, there would still be a good chance getting in!mettasutta wrote:LOL! Re: Penn 2011
Hey guys,
Did you receive a decision as soon as your status date updated a second time, or is there typically a lag (or more date updates?)
I had my first UCR on 3/8 and haven't updated since. I have some deadlines coming up, so I called the admissions office (they were really nice about it) and she said I should be hearing "very soon," but I had thought that people here were having three or so updates before getting a decision. She also said that if I send an email to contactadmissions@law.upenn.edu and let them know about my date they can keep that in mind, but she seemed to think I would hear back before then.
Also, is it still the case that in is a phone call, WL and rejection are emails?
Sorry for all the repeat questions, my searches haven't been too helpful.
Thanks so much and good luck everyone!!!
