I saw a good deal of southern descent in my ASD group. A lot of "Y'all".

For those of you who put your deposits down, but are riding WL's other places, can you get your initial deposit back or do you lose it?

Everywhere I looked, it said "non-refundable". So my best guess is NO.kommatas wrote:For those of you who put your deposits down, but are riding WL's other places, can you get your initial deposit back or do you lose it?

Yeah, if it says non-refundable, that would be a big NO. Thanks.

Re: Washington and Lee
Just emailed her. loans are [strike]scary[/strike]. Terrifying.
Just sent my deposit. Seat deposit is non refundable but they said it isn't binding and you can deposit elsewhere also.
As for the NE liberals. I'm leaving NY for Lexington and it was a concern of mine. I didnt get the good ole' boy vibe (as much form the law school). I mentioned being Jewish to a group of guys I was talking to at the bar and it turned out they were all Jews from LI. Said it was a pretty diverse mix of people.

Is there such a thing as a binding deposit? (serious question, not being a d-bag)GordonBombay wrote:Seat deposit is non refundable but they said it isn't binding and you can deposit elsewhere also.

Someone mentioned that Duke's deposit is binding. Not sure if it is true, but apparently there are some cases of binding deposits.

Supposedly for NYU you have to withdraw all acceptances when you deposit but can stay on waitlists/hear from holds.

FYI, not that it's a big deal, W&L dropped to 34.

So anyone else see the new rankings? Washington and Lee is down to 34? I know year to year rankings are relatively meaningless but I am not thrilled.

It's gotta be the 3L program dragging them down..Rowinguy2009 wrote:So anyone else see the new rankings? Washington and Lee is down to 34? I know year to year rankings are relatively meaningless but I am not thrilled.

Re: Washington and Lee
I spose...the lawyer/judge ratings were still really high (up there with Emory and other schools in the lows 20's) but the percent employed at graduation was only 82 and even 9 months after it only improved to 89? This is for 2008's class of course.SAE wrote:It's gotta be the 3L program dragging them down..Rowinguy2009 wrote:So anyone else see the new rankings? Washington and Lee is down to 34? I'm pretty sure the reputation score (3.
didn't change from last year. Also, I believe W&L has been in decline since before the new 3L program. So I wouldn't attribute it to that.

Well that blows. I was hoping for a rebound. That has W and L down 9 spots in 2 years? UNC moved ahead and W and M has better employment. lame

Did the places really "change" from last year, or did they just flip the ranking number from 4 schools at 30, to 4 schools at 34?

Dumb stupid legal academia and it's skepticism towards practical legal experience...

they flip and flop these rankings but it's pretty insignificant. Fordham is ranked 34 and places better than almost every school above it that isn't in the top 18.
GW went from 20 to 28 and then back to 20. Pretty funny stuff.
