It's hard to tell because a variety of people are involved in decisions, and you don't know who is looking at a certain file at a certain time. I don't think that there is anyone whose job it is just to sit there and answer the phone, though, which is why I made the point about the efficiency.Illijah wrote:

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
its less efficient to have people review files and field calls....stanford seems pretty unorganized as a whole. I saw stacks of papers the lady informed me was people's files just sitting on various tables....No wonder I had to call for them to find my paperwork so i could finally go complete.
I should have wrote them that if admitted I would show up a few weeks early and get their ship in order....

WAITLIST! Wow, I know the chances of getting off it are basically impossible, but I just can't even describe how thrilled I am:).

Has nobody mentioned the fact that the WL letter says that they have stopped admitting applicants at this point? You might read into it that maybe they've admitted some people and haven't sent out the letters, but let's be realistic...

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Well, they admitted someone yesterday, and that was after sending out a bunch of those WL letters that say they have stopped admitting anyone.... I don't think too many people in this thread have their hopes up, but it is pretty clear that they haven't stopped entirely.KG_CalGuy wrote:Has nobody mentioned the fact that the WL letter says that they have stopped admitting applicants at this point? I'd say 10 or less; Faye had wanted to be done by the end of this week, and there weren't many left at that stage.Illijah wrote:yea they definitely haven't stopped entirely

Still pending at Columbia (was held earlier, might withdraw), and there's my waitlist at Harvard + Chicago (might also withdraw from Chi.); otherwise, I'm off to NYU!Core wrote:Oh man, I'm sorrySakura3210 wrote:RejectedUgh, it sucks, but what am I going to do? Are you pending anywhere else? You headed to NYU?

Yeah, but at this point isn't no WL a bad thing? I am in the same boat and I feel like it points to a rejection instead of an admittance.jasmoon wrote:Safe as well. This feels like American Idol.Core wrote:+1emrose wrote:Another day without a WL letter...

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
You could well be right. As much as I would love to go to Stanford, I have personal factors that will probably mean I can't ride out a WL, so for me a WL is much the same as a ding. I'll keep clinging to the (incredibly slim) hope that I might actually get in for as long as I can.Hey-O wrote:Yeah, but at this point isn't no WL a bad thing? Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I recently posted in the Stanford ASW thread, but didn't say anything substantial...so here's my attempt to both rectify that and give SLS a good, hard selladameus wrote:is anyone updating anywhere on the ASW?

The ASW was simply amazing. I was there for just over a day, but it felt like much longer (in a good way!). I had planned on attending some classes tomorrow, but unfortunately I came down with some sort of bug and decided to head back to Berkeley instead of infecting everyone.
Anyway, Stanford truly pulled out all the stops, putting together a schedule full of interesting and fun events. The forums and panels with faculty, alumni, and current students were informative and candid. The professors and current students were incredibly friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be at Stanford. Dean Kramer and the other professors that I met all have magnetic personalities, and I loved simply hearing them speak. Their enthusiasm rubbed off on the admits, and everyone had a great time meeting one another.
Here's a brief play-by-play of my Saturday:
I arrived in Palo Alto around 11am, and after dropping off my luggage I went to lunch. Dean Kramer gave a great speech, and we got to meet the other admits and current students at our table. I went to a panel on Law, Economics, & Business afterward, and then to a small group discussion with a current 1L, 2L, and 3L (they answered all of our questions, including numerous "Harvard and Yale are great at XYZ, how does Stanford compare?" type questions). I then went to a viewing and discussion of My Cousin Vinny -- we would watch a scene from the movie, and then Kramer, Weisberg, Bankman, and Karlan would discuss the scene in a broader legal context and crack jokes. Dinner followed, and then a small group of students and I got to go to Professor Goldstein's house for a dessert reception. Professor Goldstein does copyright & soft IP, which are fields I am very interested in, so it was wonderful to speak with him (and his lovely wife). Afterward, most of us went to Palo Alto Bowl for, you guessed it, bowling. We also got a free drink (although many of us got more) and pizza, and we had a great time drinking, bowling, and socializing. Most students went to their hotel rooms afterward, but my buddy and I managed to land a room in Munger for the night, so we wandered around campus for a while before heading to bed.
Also, it must be noted that the campus is simply gorgeous (although I think the law school architecture leaves something to be desired), and the weather these past two days has been nothing short of heavenly. Right before I left for Caltrain, I got a chance to play soccer and tan on the field adjacent to the law school.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I'm still really giddy with excitement from the ASW!

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Waitlisted. Letter dated 4/8 and postmarked 4/9 (I'm abroad, so snail mail decisions are rather irritating). This was the last school I was waiting on and, while it's nice not to get rejected, I'm not that excited to keep waiting some more.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Ok, so, I have a hunch we sat next to each other and had a conversation, lol. You said you were an engineer at Berkeley and were deciding between Yale and Stanford and it only struck me after the panel started that you might be you. I'm curious as to whether you had a similar recognition experience (I'd probably be a little harder to spot).BioEBear2010 wrote: I went to a panel on Law, Economics, & Business afterward
For confirmation: you wear Prada glasses, yes? no?
