Per the acceptance email, we get notice (or lack thereof) of $$$ today. Any guesses on what time these will come out?

I think you may want to reread it: nowhere in the acceptance email did it specify the date of decisions, just said within "the next two weeks". Need access deadline is apr 3.

My bet is next Thursday apr 11 for Finaid decisions

Long time lurker here, waitlisted. The LOCI instruction that came with the decision letter says that I should notify the school I plan to attend of the intention to stay on the waitlist - is this necessary?? I know that my chance of getting in off WL is very slim and I don't feel comfortable letting the school I will very happily and probably attend that I am wiling to go somewhere else.

Its not like the school itself has feelings, and all the adcomms know the game. staying on the Chicago waitlist just means you are practical; if anything, unless your other school is HYS, getting off the Chi WL could get you more scholarship $$ at the school you've decided to attend

@jbagelboy: thanks for the reply. do you have any tip on how to broach the topic? I mean, should I tell the school i will deposit at that I am happy to join *** but personal reasons (family related) compel me to stay on the waitlist at U Chicago, or something like that?

I made the deposit at GULC last week and they didn't ask if I were waitlisted on the forms. On the flip side, Emory does ask you if you've been waitlisted at any other schools on their enrollment decision form.

If the form doesn't ask for it, I wouldn't supply it, and if they have a spot where it asks, just put it. It's not an uncommon thing for people to make a deposit elsewhere, get off a waitlist and then leave.

(Background info: deposited at GULC, on 5 waitlists, still waiting for 5 decisions - Chi included).

I think there will be another wave, Chicago seems to be running behind with their new interview process. Hopefully they keep making decisions throughout April!

I'm in the exact same boat. I've decided not to worry - definitely no point in emailing again.

I just got the confirmation email. Seems that they are just too busy (or that I'm just not a very attractive WLer )

Statistically, I think it highly unlikely that the next round will be even close to something resembling a "wave."

Chicago has a small class, so they can and will pick and choose onsies-and-twosies out of those still 'complete', not to mention that WL'ers who they have already interviwed. Since they have interviewed so many more candidates this year, they must be anticipating/hoping for a higher yield (else why spend the time and money to interview?). But they now need to wait to see if that higher yield materializes. In the meantime, they need to hold off on offers, lest the class be over-enrolled.

This is correct. Admissions office is finished sending out bunched acceptances.
