No insight here, but that's my situation/those are my current thoughts as well.malcolm wrote:I'm curious what to make of having gone under review in late November and hearing literally nothing since (i.e., no FR).
It looks like it's probably not a good thing (figuring if I was being strongly considered, I'd either have been admitted in Dean Tom's initial review, or sent to FR), and if that's true, what about an LOCI? I would almost certainly attend if admitted.
Does anyone have any insight?

What are your profiles/numbers like? URM or military status?postard wrote:No insight here, but that's my situation/those are my current thoughts as well.malcolm wrote:I'm curious what to make of having gone under review in late November and hearing literally nothing since (i.e., no FR).

Consensus is that prior to any review notification you should send nothing unless it's says something like "I just won the Nobel/Oscar." Berkeley or no Berkeley, I am sure you two are well on your way

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
postard's UGPA is very very strong and above B's 75th percentile. your LSAT is almost reaching their 75th percentile. You are in a great position. I think it will boil down to your extracurricular activities, essays, recs and other qualitative portions of your profile. Did you write interesting essays? Are you a Cali resident? things like that.
Malcolm's are harder to tell because I have no idea how B's affirmative action policies play out. It's technically unlawful in CA but I guess they can look at other things to have the same effect. My profile was very strong despite my numbers being less than stellar and I discussed my heritage/experiences and its impact on my worldview in my PS and DS. Thankfully Malcolm's UGPA is quite good and LSAT stands at/crosses the magic threshold of 160. (Below a 160 it becomes very difficult even for the most sought-after URMs, black males, to gain admission from the T14). I think for Malcolm it will depend on the strength of your qualitative profile. Malcolm should take heart from the fact that as a black female (albeit a physics phd and author of texts) I got in with 3.5x and 164. My UGPA was lower than Malcolm's & I don't think the fact that my degrees were from great universities made a big difference. I wrote my essay on stereotype-shattering which I want to do all my life. Adcomms like those kinds of essays and for me at least it was sincere

Agreed. Don't let the haters get you down. Remember that cathedrals and edifices are built not from complacence but from doubt and hard work.shawn11h wrote:Yes, good luck to all those still waiting. I wish the best for you all.
I applied the first week that apps were open and got in only about a week and a half ago. Hang in there. Have faith in yourself. Don't obsess -- go to a movie or something. A lot of great Oscar-worthy movies to catch up on!

Admitted this morning by phone. FR2. Applied early October. More stats in my profile. Planning to attend. Hope to see some of you there. Best of luck to you all with all of your remaining applications. I am very excited. Walking away from my computer and will not respond to anything for a while.

degree-granting GPA is significantly higher, several years WE
I just wasn't sure whether not having gotten FR at this point meant a ding was inevitable. Thanks a lot for the input everyone. I'll avoid the LOCI, since I was again ignored by the Nobel committee... Congrats to all who are in, and good luck to all who like me are hoping for good news soon!

Since Dean Tom started calling FR2 people two days earlier than usual I'm going to assume that's because Berk's just going to admit such a massive amount of FR2ers that he had to start early and there will be several more admits in the next two days...right?

I like your optimism! I've already convinced myself that I'm definitely in the ding pile, since I didn't get a call today..GertrudeR wrote:Since Dean Tom started calling FR2 people two days earlier than usual I'm going to assume that's because Berk's just going to admit such a massive amount of FR2ers that he had to start early and there will be several more admits in the next two days...right?

We're beyond hope. Last year I think the first day that calls came out, there were several. Then the next day there were a few. And then you were dinged.HawkeyeGirl wrote:I like your optimism!
