For what it's worth guys, last year all the USED copies sold out on amazon and people's only choice was to pay $42 + tax for it new. Plus Amazon pulled that move where they raised the price with demand.
I paid $42. $25 is my final offer as I could get more selling it new on Amazon (and I will be listing it there now as a back up plan).JD pissed

There's street meat for sale on 59th, though that's probably considered downtown by a true Upper West Sider. There's the taco truck on 96th, but that's Manhattan Valley, just aboutStringer6 wrote:do they even allow street vendors on the upper west side?JenDarby wrote: Haha no I just want to be clear it's a FIRM OFFER. How about a barter? Any two images on my site (sized 8x10 or 8x12.) A $64 dollar value in trade for said book?

I downloaded the amazon ebook for $26. I also removed the drm, so I can sell infinite "like new" copies at, say, $8 each. Hey, when will they teach us why it's legal to sell used books but illegal to sell used ebooks?
Y'all need to cool it with the price gouging!
edit: it's been suggested that some folks might get the wrong impression. I'm not selling illegal anything to anyone. I wrote "can sell" and not "am selling", mainly to illustrate that folks offering their used books are asking too high of a price. And the follow up legal question was just more kidding around. It's pretty obvious why one is OK and the other is not. OK? OK.

On this, just don't burn the bridge so you can still walk back across and get a good reference when needed. Aside from that, the company would give you two weeks notice in a heartbeat if they suddenly decided to downsize.doceydoe wrote:Ok so, assuming Im in, how tacky would it be to ask my boss for a pay advance and then submit my 2 weeks notice?doceydoe wrote:Yes and nope, nothing there. if you're deposit deadline is already here you may have been admitted about a week ago and not known it. Waiting until when your deposit is past due to confirm that you are in may not be the best idea. They're sending out dozens of emails a day, just check.

I feel like it's a really logical answer. Like the fact that you can only sell one book and "infinite" ebooks.ned wrote:I downloaded the amazon ebook for $26. I also removed the drm, so I can sell infinite "like new" copies at, say, $8 each. Hey, when will they teach us why it's legal to sell used books but illegal to sell used ebooks?

But I don't know enough at this point to give you something concrete.

But I don't know enough at this point to give you something concrete.
I think the theory behind it is you're not selling something so much as you're selling a copy of something that you don't have the right to copy. The same thing applies to books but not enough people copy books and resell them for it to be really problematic because that's WAY too much work. With a digital thing the work is minimal and millions of people do it so it's worth trying to prevent.
that's just a theory though

You can sell your possessions, ie physical books, dvd's. But you don't have the rights to the contents and you can't reproduce and distribute the information stored within. If you download the information rather than purchase a physical object, you have no physical possession to sell. Just the copyrighted information that is protected from duplication.... I think.Gemini wrote:Right. That's what I said but less words.Fujin11 wrote:Gemini wrote:I feel like it's a really logical answer. Hey all,
Would anyone be kind enough to PM me details about orientation, etc.? Or anything geared towards evening students in particular? (Based on prior posts, I feel like a book has already been assigned?) The office is closed on Fridays so I haven't heard anything since my acceptance email. If anyone could help me out in the meanwhile I'd be especially grateful!
