Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Hey. I've been following the forum for awhile so I figured I would finally post. I just found out I was part of the mass waitlisting on the 12th. Think I'm gonna stick it out. Are most of you just going to wait and see what happens with it? I'm not sure how much hope to have!

I think your chances on the Stanford waitlist are better than waitlists at most other schools. If it's where you absolutely want to go and you can afford to wait, then I would give it your all. Best of luck.chevygrl88 wrote:Hey. I've been following the forum for awhile so I figured I would finally post. I just found out I was part of the mass waitlisting on the 12th. OK, I'm going home today and if a letter is not in the mail, I'm calling.

already tried calling a few times today -- no one's picking up, probably because of ASW.astro1819 wrote:OK, I'm going home today and if a letter is not in the mail, I'm calling.

Two questions:
1.) What is ASW?
2.) In her blog it says, 'first round of decisions'. Does that mean that there is a very small second round coming up or does it mean that the second round is the wait list?

2) She meant that, come Monday, every applicant will/should have been either be accepted, waitlisted or rejected.

Now they're telling people by the end of the month they should know.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I believe you when you say that, but it makes me wonder why Faye Deal would've bothered posting "All first round decisions should be finalized this week" if she wasn't almost certain that she could accomplish it. It just confuses everyone when they go back and forth like this.Illijah wrote:Now they're telling people by the end of the month they should know.
I wish they would just send a quick email update to all people who remain under review. Something along the lines of "we haven't forgotten about you! we know you're anxious but we just need a bit more time, please bear with us and we'll let you know ASAP"
Stanford is a big black box to me.

To be fair, she said: "This year - if we manage to finish up this week as anticipated – we’ll be about two weeks ahead of schedule, but there is still room for improvement." [emphasis added by me, lol] It sucks to wait, and I like your idea, astro. OTOH, Asha at Yale made the point that any time they devote to updating people on status is time taken away from actually making decisions. I don't know if that flies with you, but, in any case, I hope you all will hear (positively!) soon.
My April 12 dated WL letter still hasn't arrived on the East Coast. And I also got a call from a private number this morning. No message and no FD e-mail, though. So I suppose I should just wait before bugging them to resend the WL letter.
FYI, I do intend to ride it out as well.

From LSN last year it appears at some point they started telling people that there are no more acceptances to be handed out when they called in. I would assume they at some point will start doing that this cycle.

I hear ya. In the age of computers, I have a hard time believing that it takes much time to send a stock status update -- I don't need personalized updates. Just some token that lets me know they are still aware of my existence. Sigh.nawktasy wrote:To be fair, she said: "This year - if we manage to finish up this week as anticipated – we’ll be about two weeks ahead of schedule, but there is still room for improvement." Plus it might avoid them having to answer so many calls asking about status. That's the idea behind status checkers, anyway.

As of today's mail I'm not WL and I'm not rejected. What could my status be? Do they just take a long time to send out the rejections?

Waitlist letter from the 12th finally made it's way to Boston. Guess I'm riding this thing out to the bitter end.

Still nothing here. Anything mailed on the 12th would have surely made it to me, and probably anything mailed on the 13th, but since they seem to be sending WL letters every day now, who knows... Mine'll probably arrive next week when I'm out of town.

Just a quick note: the more people who call and the more often they call, the more time that they spend answering your calls and the less time that they spend reviewing your files. So, while it's understandable that you're anxious, you'll probably get a decision sooner if you don't call them constantly.

Nothing in my mailbox today
How long does it take for a letter to travel to east anyway?

do you think the same people making decisions are also answering the phones?CardinalRules wrote:Just a quick note: the more people who call and the more often they call, the more time that they spend answering your calls and the less time that they spend reviewing your files. I don't know, but there are very few people who work in the office (just two, really), so there might be some overlap.Illijah wrote:do you think the same people making decisions are also answering the phones?CardinalRules wrote:Just a quick note: the more people who call and the more often they call, the more time that they spend answering your calls and the less time that they spend reviewing your files. I remember when I visited the law school there were 2 people in the administration office...they said all the people who make decisions were gone (it was the beginning of christmas break).CardinalRules wrote:I don't know, but there are very few people who work in the office (just two, really), so there might be some overlap.Illijah wrote:do you think the same people making decisions are also answering the phones?CardinalRules wrote:Just a quick note: the more people who call and the more often they call, the more time that they spend answering your calls and the less time that they spend reviewing your files.
