yes, and the hold email throws this horrible line
"These decisions may be made at any time between now and late spring. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict the next decision on your application or the timing of that decision."

frustrating. confusing.

I hate to say it, but isn't this the stuff they said they weren't going to do this year?

Do we have any idea the number of people that are normally accepted after being held (without going to a waitlist first)? I would assume the number is small based on the wide range of numbers that were held.

just had the JR1, it was pretty quick/painless, didn't think it went great but not horrible either.

hopefully JR2 comes sooner rather than later (or not at all), we'll see.

Sorry to hear that, tesoro, and thanks for the heads up, cb. Looks like Harvard is sticking to the three-month timetable even though they pulled a Cornell with all the holds. :P

Ages ago. It was either 10/1 or sometime in September.

There seems to be a very small number of rejects...maybe it wasn't a batch but methodical rejections? Or maybe people are too pissed off to post?

I'm scared each time I open gmail :-S

Did the status checker change at all for those who are held?

For people on hold, do you think we can e-mail them our LOCI? I know they don't open attachments, but can I make the text of the email my LOCI (EOCI)? That way I wouldn't have to worry about the letter getting lost in the mail.

Also I need some quick advice: I was recently accepted to Teach For America in New Orleans and I am committed to joining next year. Do you think I should include this in my LOCI? Or will they frown on the fact that I'll be deferring if admitted?

Thanks

Wow, so I am normally pretty skeptical of people who have stories like this, but I swear this actually happened to me.

About an hour ago, I was busy replacing the windshield wipers on my car when my phone rang. I saw (617) as the area code and started trembling a little, thinking about what I was going to say. I answered and it was the Democratic National Committee (DNC) asking me for some $$$.

It was awful.

Oh poor crackberry - you are so traumatized that you had to post this twice.

That truly is pretty awful though, guessing you didn't donate?

Hah I figure there are some people who don't read both threads, thought everyone should know.

I did not donate, though I told the guy he could send me a form later this month. I also added DNC into my phone so it doesn't happen again.

In other news, have all of today's rejections been very early applicants/complete dates? If so, it makes me think those of us who didn't get held or rejected are about to be either admitted or WLed in the next week. I can't say I understand the difference between a hold and a WL though, especially for those of us who had early JR1s.

that's a tough situation... personally, I wouldn't mention it because I'd be afraid of them using that as a reason to choose someone else with similar stats/profile (knowing that I can reapply at a later date)
