I would say you might as well go for it, but I am no expert at getting into Columbia

Considering doing this too, but it seems other schools don't like it if you send one before even getting on waitlist/reserve
Also one of their info documents says "submit address changes and letters of continued interest (Hold or Reserve applicants only) through our online..."
But dunno how strict they are about this

In the JD application pamphlet (
http://www.law.columbia.edu/sites/defau ... cation.pdf)
And seeing as they spell it out so clearly, I definitely wouldn't send a LOCI before a preliminary response.

What is the purpose of putting people on hold? Why not just make us wait or waitlist? Any ideas?

Perhaps to gauge interest and protect yield. A waitlist might turn people off toward the school whereas a Hold allows adcomms to see who really wants it.

Interesting. It just seems strange to have a designated limbo state when in reality the whole admissions process is a limbo state.

of all confusing cycles on TLS, yours is the worst for me. I have no idea how these places (CLS, NYU, HLS) haven't taken you already. but, it must be only a matter of time.
rooting for you, addie

+1. I can't believe the way your cycle is turning out. I ultimately still think NYU and CLS will definitely take you and HLS should.

I talked to the financial aid office on the phone yesterday re: getting my tax forms in and the nice lady said that they were still compiling files and hadn't started the evaluations yet.

For anyone who sent in their LOCI through the Columbia website- should there be a confirmation email?

How do people feel about sending an additional letter of rec once waitlisted? I'm also planning on sending a LOCI.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
