I got a "Decision Finalized" on Tuesday. Does this mean anything in particular?

Especially us 166/3.6x- we are so solid with our numbers but we just don't split a median. I envy the 3.7/165s and especially the 167/3.2xs

It seriously kills me. It's like applying to undergrad all over again where it is disadvantageous to be a good all-around candidate, they prefer more one-dimensional applicants.

I have a hard time explaining how my buddy who is very smart but lazy as hell and had a GPA over .6 below mine is going to a higher ranked school. I say it's the LSAT and that he got a couple more questions right and I'm always either met with some form of disbelief

It doesn't work that way. USC won't care about the other schools he is accepted at when deciding whether or not to pull him from the waitlist. That only matters when you're negotiating scholarship money.

yeah not to mention these schools are by and large taking a different caliber of student. Really bad idea.

It doesn't work that way. USC won't care about the other schools he is accepted at when deciding whether or not to pull him from the waitlist. That only matters when you're negotiating scholarship money.

haha seriously. Thank god for that retake, I wasn't thrilled at a 1 point increase when I first got it. But it's turning out to be a big deal.

yeah it sucks when you have a 166 with a 3.7 GPA being turned down in favor of a 167 with a much lower gpa.

I don't know who should be laughing ... the fact that you think you're over qualified yet seem oblivious to the law school admissions process is something to laugh at. Berkeley deserves you.

If you look at his LSN there is obviously something frightfully wrong with his app. Berkeley just missed or glossed over whatever that was.

yeah it's very strange.. she should be a lock for everyone except stanford,yale and Harvard.. and yet everyone besides berkeley waitlisted/rejected her. There must be something wrong with her/his application.

now someone mentioned that he/she is over qualified and that's why USC rejected her. I suppose that's possible but they admitted people with those stats early on.

He has a C&F issue according to his earlier posts. He said it was minor, but maybe he didn't do a good job of explaining and showing how he learned from it. Also USC only asks about convictions for felonies and misdemeanors. Most states have diversion programs or counseling programs for first time offenders so they don't get a criminal record. Perhaps the C&F issue was more severe than he let on.

Yes Boalt has the same C&F questions as USC. But some schools only care whether an applicant can pass the bar, while others take C&F more seriously and try to get a feel for the morality of the applicant.
