Your status holds until you have the interview, and it takes between 1 and 8 days for your status to update after the interview. So it means nothing.xtine wrote:Ugh. 11/16-->11/19-->11/29-->12/9 ...
I think they're onto something with all of these 9s.... But really, I'm not asking what this means, so nobody freak out... Just putting it out there

The 9 group is building. Here's hoping it means an admission is coming. I need me some more Catholic love, and there's no priests anywhere to be found.pinkzebra wrote:11/16-->11/19-->11/29-->12/9 ...

do statuses update at any time during the day or does everyone's turn at once?

Gosh, I hope it's just once a day. That's one of the only ways left that GULC could make us MORE neurotic and obsessive about the application status page.chstar wrote:do statuses update at any time during the day or does everyone's turn at once?

I know this has probably been asked several times, but are we positive that they only mail acceptances? Have there been any reported instances of someone receiving a ding, deferral or waitlist via snail mail?

I've stalked this thread quite a bit and I have not heard of a single mailed ding. Those have all been via email to my knowledgeMarionberry wrote:I know this has probably been asked several times, but are we positive that they only mail acceptances? For the record I never said GULC was in the dumps. I said it's OCI kinda sucks. Which is true in comparison to the rest of the t14... which is why I think GULC would play off other factors to draw applicants who have choices between GULC and other t14 schools away from them and towards GULC.

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
Just got the acceptance letter in the mail. I submitted 11/10, went complete 11/12-> 11/16->11/18->12/1->12/6. I got the admitted students site email on 12/6. I live in the DC area, so it would make sense that I would be one of the first 12/6 people to get a letter. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

So forgive me for not being very aware of this whole process. I never even thought to keep track of when the dates on my status check page changed! Anyway, so do you first get an email with a password, THEN an acceptance letter in the mail? Or is there some initial "yay, congratulations, you're awesome" email or notification that comes?

+1. It would be really nice to have that in hand. However, my Gtown Law hoodie did come in the mail today, so that's a plus!birdlaw117 wrote:Nice! Congratulations! Similar situation in my case: admitted students site on 12/6 and letter in the mail today (accepted to the part time program). First decision of the cycle and it sure feels good. Best of luck to everyone else still waiting!cjr1988 wrote:Just got the acceptance letter in the mail. I submitted 11/10, went complete 11/12-> 11/16->11/18->12/1->12/6. Re: GULC Waiting Thread
I thought I'd go ahead and post the "positive/acceptace" email that some recommenders are receiving, since I don't think anyone has done that yet.
Dear Mr. Recommender,
Thank you for submitting a recommendation to Georgetown Law on behalf
of marionberry. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share
your thoughts on marion with our Admissions Committee. Although, for
confidentiality reasons, we are not able to tell you officially the
decision, we hope marion will be contacting you with "good news" in
the very near future. We would appreciate you not saying anything
until you are contacted. We like the applicants to have the
excitement of finding out when they open their letter.
Each admissions cycle, Georgetown Law typically receives more
applications than any other law school in the country. Our Committee
depends upon recommendations to help us get to know who each unique
applicant is behind the application. Consequently, your first-hand
input was critical in helping our Committee make the best possible
decision on whom to admit in our incoming class. Thank you again for
your thoughtful insight and for participating in our admissions
process.
With gratitude and best regards,
Andrew Cornblatt

My recommender got an email but not one referencing "good news." I have only had 2 status updates but this does not look good based on others reports.

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
I wouldn't read too much into this, it sounds like a lot of people have had their recommenders get these. It does not seem like this email is indicative of a decision.Buffalo Bill wrote:My recommender got an email but not one referencing "good news." Re: GULC Waiting Thread
It seems like they sent out letters to all the recommenders they had received letters from so far. Some of them, like mine, reference good news that the applicant supposedly is unaware of. Other, presumably to recommenders of people who have already received decisions, are worded differently. I think they emailed recommenders of people who don't have decisions yet, too. So just because your recommender didn't get a "good news" email, it may not be bad news. It could just mean that they haven't made a decision on your application yet.
Of course, all this is speculation so I may be completely off.
